The beam sizings I received didn't look right to me. I emailed a few questions and it took weeks to hear back. After a long discussion, she told me she had assumed the two walls in question were not load bearing walls (not stated in her report). I asked her if her assumption about the beams was wrong, wouldn't the beams be under-sized? She said the new beams would be "better than nothing". I asked her to assume the walls were load bearing and send me a new report. She said she would do it by the end of the week. I didn't receive the report so I went to her office and found out that she was on vacation. Not only did she not send me the report, she didn't bother to tell me that she would be out for another week. I told the office manager that I wanted my money back. Instead I received another report stating that the new report was "conservative" and had much larger beam sizings. I didn't believe the first report and I didn't believe the second report. They refunded my money or $572.50.
Description of Work: My house was built in 1840. Almost all of the walls on the first floor are located above large structural beams in the basement. There are two walls, however, that are not located over any large structural beams in the basement. These two walls are in my Living Room and they are adjacent to each other. Since there is not sufficient support from below, these two Living Room walls and the Living Room floor have dropped about two inches at the lowest point. I hired this structural engineering company to provide a specification for support beams to fix this problem.
