"JMH contracting is an excellent company that strives to fully satisfy. Jeff Honchar owner; comes fully prepared with a history of his company along with his mission statement and background on himself and his family. I originally had what I thought was a three part job at my sons house; drywall replacement, hardwood replacement (not laminate), under sink cabinet floor replacement. I entertained offers from various contractors for all three jobs. Mr. Honchar was the only contractor out of the many contractors to take the time to provide me with a detailed estimate of all steps and materials needed rather than just a general statement of work and cost. Mr. Honchars attention to detail is what impressed me most. Intricate cuts for pipes and wires under the sink were needed and Mr. Honchar took care of the cuts with ease. The under sink was repaired with wood that was much a better grade than the original installed two years ago. The damaged hardwood floor was replaced to its original condition with no problem. Drywall repair was completed with no problem without visible notice of repair. Mr. Honchar cleaned up every day and once the jobs were completed he removed all trash and debris. Mr. Honchars work was that of an expert craftsman, he is a man of his word and his cost was very reasonable. Mr. Honchar listened to my desires and made sure to explain all possible options and limitations. Mr. Honchar is a trustworthy, courteous and hardworking craftsman. The end was everything and more than I was hoping for. You made my son and his wife very happy and proud of the work performed on their house. I have no problem hiring JMH Contracting for future projects. Five stars out of five stars!!!! Thank you! James Cheek"

Childproofing questions, answered by experts

Yes, tamper-resistant outlets are designed to be safe for use in homes with children. They feature a spring-loaded shutter that blocks the electrical slots when not in use, which helps protect children from electric shock if they try to insert an object. While they are the safest option available and highly effective, it's important to note that few things are truly 'childproof.' Children may still try to imitate adults by inserting a plug. For this reason, it's best to use tamper-resistant outlets over less effective solutions like plastic covers, which can be removed or pose a choking hazard. Always supervise young children around any electrical outlets or devices.

The best time to hire a childproofing professional is at least three months before your due date. Although it might seem early, proper childproofing takes time, especially if you need extensive services like a pool fence. Getting your house ready now before your child is on the go only helps to protect them at all stages of life.

The average cost of childproofing services is $410. This cost can range from $190 to $630 or more, depending on the size of your home and what services you need.

The location of the childproofing additions also plays a vital role in the overall cost. For example, a bathroom is relatively small and costs about $150 to fully childproof. However, if you have a swimming pool, you could spend as much as $1,500 to $10,000 to make it entirely safe for small children, including adding a pool fence.

Yes, tamper-resistant outlets are a safe and effective way to protect children from electrical hazards. They feature a spring-loaded shutter that blocks the outlet slots when not in use, preventing a child from inserting foreign objects. While they are the safest option available, it's important to note that few things can be considered truly 'childproof.' Children may still try to imitate adults by inserting a plug, so constant supervision around any electrical device is recommended. Tamper-resistant outlets are a much safer solution than childproofing covers, which can be removed by children and may pose a choking hazard.

In many cases, you can DIY home childproofing with success. You can purchase childproofing tools like cabinet locks, outlet covers, and table-edge guards and install them easily.

However, it's best to have a professional childproofing service work on larger projects like pool safety or furniture anchoring. These safety measures can take a lot of time and effort to DIY, plus, you want to ensure the tasks are done correctly to keep your child safe.
