I had a recessed light that stopped working. I had already done a little DIY home repair and assumed the socket was out. When I called J&G, Eric answered the phone after just a few rings. I schedule an 8 am appointment for just a few days later. Eric called about 30 minutes before the scheduled time to let me know he was on his way and arrived promptly at 8 am. He looked at the light and knew immediately that it was an easy fix. The best part was that it cost me $30 less than I had expected.

We were having electrical issues -- flickering lights -- at out home. The owner sent her repair person out who quickly realized he was out of his league, but identified the problem and cut the power for safety reasons. He told the owner to get her electrician in ASAP. He came the next day, but sixteen hours later with no resolution and I began to wonder if the owner's electrician was up to the job. I started calling around for potential providers of emergency service and to get a verbal assessment. I called J & G and Spoke with Eric, a very polite and professional man who would have been performing the work if the owner decided to authorize it. He explained the work would need to be performed the following day, when it was light out, due to the critical nature of the work. He was very upfront about all policies, processes, and costs. In the midst of the stress I was unable to follow up with him that same evening, as the issue was eventually temporarily resolved and safe. Eric called to make sure assistance was not required.

Outstanding, can't wait to use them again next time. Eric was outstanding, and great communicator. He completed all three jobs quickly and professionally. Also, he was very pet-friendly (I have a large dog that scares some contractors).

I needed someone to quickly diagnose my electrical problem in one of my bedrooms as I was leaving town and I wanted it repaired before I left. I called J&G and Eric, who was driving to a job at that time, answered the phone. I quickly explained my problem and he gave me a possible diagnosis. I told him I needed someone asap. He said he could come out the next day and that he would return my call for particulars when he finished his current job. He returned my call as he said he would (I was very pleased with that as I have found that most people will not return your call when they say or never at all, and I have to track them down) and we set up an appointment. Eric arrived on time. My husband showed him the bedroom and explained our problem. Eric's initial diagnosis (the one he gave me over the phone was correct) and he proceeded to fix the light switch. Eric clearly explained what the problem was and what needed to be done to fix it. Eric was personable, courteous, professional, prompt and knows what he is doing. I will highly recommend J&G and I like the discount I received with the coupon.

If you are more worried about getting the job done right and not as much about cost then J&G Electric is for you. I would only use this company for relatively complicated jobs. For simple jobs, such relacing a light fixture or ceiling fan then use someone else. J&G Electric is very professional and do the job right the first time. However, they are fairly expensive (cost me $814). I would also recommend waiting, if you can, for an Angie's List Big Deal for an electrician or some other groupon. I used Certified Electrical Technologies (electrician Eric Carlton) via an Angie's List Big Deal. They did twice the work as J&G, some of it complicated and it only cost me $125. What a difference!

This is the second time Eric has come to our apartment in Columbia Heights. He did a great job identifying the problem and sharing with me what his proposed solution was before he started the work. I agreed to his plan and he finished in record time. He was extremely courteous while he was here, and he accommodated my work schedule, allowing me to miss minimal time at work. Finally, the price he charged was absolutely reasonable. There is only one electrician we will ever use in DC, and that is Eric from J&G. I will recommend him often and loudly.

Over the weekend, lights throughout the house began to dim and flash on and off. I called for emergency service, and J and G called me back immediately. They arrived exactly on time, worked with shoe covers (very clean) and were highly professional and courteous. They showed me exactly where the problem was so I could see it for my own eyes (turns out it's a Pepco issue, not something I can get them to handle.) Despite spending a good amount of time figuring out the problem, the diagnostic price stayed at $29 dollars. I would highly recommend them.

Can we say true professionalism in every regard! From the initial phone call to the end of the job J&G's professionalism was above what I have encountered from dealing with differenct contractors. I would highly recommend J&G Electric for all your electrical needs.

I purchased Angie's List big deal for two hours of electrician services. I made a list of things for the electrician to do and made the appointment. The electrician called me that morning and said he could come early if I was ready. That NEVER happens! I wasn't ready, so we kept the original afternoon appointment and he was right on time. He was courteous, professional, personable and kind. He went straight to work - removed my old, ugly kitchen light, replaced it with my new light, installed my new smoke detector and fixed my ceiling fan so the light was hooked up to the wall switch but the fan was hooked up to the remote. More than I had hoped for! He got through my whole list under time, then gave me some advice on improving electrical system safety in my very old building. It was a joy having him in my home. That NEVER happens! As a home owner and landlord, I have dealt with several home improvement professionals and guys like this are few and far between. Obviously -- that's why we need Angie's List, right? Without hesitation, I would recommend this company and will call them in the future, with or without a coupon.

Friendly, prompt, quality service all around. I couldn't be happier. Even though the Angie's List deal I used was for labor only, they didn't even charge me for the hardware that was needed to complete the work.

After just having a bad service experience where an electrician never showed up, it was refreshing to call and actually talk directly to the electrician about the work to be done. We weren't in a rush, so Eric scheduled us for about a week out and called an hour before he would be at the house. He was great about returning calls and explaining how he prices work. Eric was very pleasant to deal with and obviously understands how important customer service is. We'll definitely be contacting him to replace the attic fan and for any other electrical work we have.

Eric, the electrician that came to my home, was fantastic – personable, professional, smart. Best of all, he treated my home like it was his own, putting on shoe covers before entering without being asked. (I have white carpeting throughout) Eric installed a family heirloom chandelier for me. This chandelier is priceless to me in sentimental value and Eric handled it with great care. He also installed lighting in a dark alcove area of my home and a replacement GFI in my bathroom. Everything went smoothly. I am very fussy and expect work that is technically correct AND looks nice too. Eric understands that. From now on, Eric is my only electrician.

I had a Big Deal for two hours of service. Eric promptly returned my call and offered me an early appointment time (a plus!). Although I thought I might be a little late from dropping off the kids, he assured me that he would wait for me to arrive and even called the morning of to let me know he was on his way (another big plus!). Eric set to work right away and got everything done to my satisfaction. Some other notable pluses - Eric took the time to consult with me on how low to hang the lighting fixure in the bedroom and made adjustments as requested; he had to run out to get a replacement part for the recessed light and did not charge extra for the additional time or part; he was very pleasant to work with and I was very comfortable with him in my home. He's returning this week to install recessed lighting in another room - I think that says it all right there.

I found J&G through an Angie's List Big Deal. They were able to schedule quickly and came out within a couple weeks of me buying the deal. Eric did a fantastic job all around, worked hard and surprisingly fast, and was an incredibly nice guy. He went above and beyond while he was here too, helping secure two loose socket in our kitchen without charging us extra and providing us with advice on future projects we were considering doing ourselves. I will call them first in the future any time I need electrical work done.

Eric was the electrician that came to do the work. He was very friendly and really worked to get all the fixtures installed in the two hours allotted by the Angie's List deal. This was especially challenging because the lights used on the ceiling fans weren't traditional lighting kits and so were more complicated to mount on the ceiling fans. Eric's work was flawless - and he always double-checked to make sure the work he was doing was meeting my expectations. Another complication was that I like the compact fluorescent bulbs and they weren't the right size to fit in the ceiling fan lights. Eric provided light bulbs that fit at no extra cost to me. None of my lighting complications were due to Eric, but he met each challenge and provided me with exactly what I wanted. I will definitely be hiring Eric and J&G Electric in the future. We already have my next two projects planned.

Scheduling the appointment was easy. I scheduled for a few weeks in advance. Eric was the electrician and on the day of the appointment he called me 20 min in advance. He arrived on time and was very professional. He took extra care to keep my house and the job site clean. Eric did the work very efficiently, he installed an electrical outlet outside and repaired two ceiling fans. I am very happy with the work, Eric's professionalism and how easy the transaction was. I plan to use Eric in the future and enthusiastically recommend him to other Angie's list members.

A few months after I purchased the deal I called J&G to check on the cost of materials. Eric is the electrician who took my call, he was professional and knowledgeable with a great sense of humor. He provided me with a rough estimate on the cost of the materials needed for the work I described to him. He assured me that I would be able to schedule a date to have the work done at my convenience. On the day of the work was scheduled; Erica called ahead to let me know that he was on his way. He arrived dressed neatly and prepared to get to work. He was very polite and even put on shoe covers before he walked through my home. We went over all the repairs and installations that I wanted in the basement. Eric explained which items could be done and which would not work due to structural restrictions. He did the work I wanted quickly and cleaned up the area he even went out of his way to correct a light switch that had been installed upside down! I had time to ask him about what it would cost to have security lights installed and he gave me prices including fixtures versus prices if I provide the fixtures. My experience with J & G Electric was one the best I have had with work I needed in my home!
