Gibbons Electric

I called several electricians asking for one of them to come over as soon as possible to fix a light in my tenants apartment that was arching and caused lights to go out in several rooms. Gibbons Electric was the only one to return my call. It was the holiday weekend and they were extremely busy but set up a time to come over. They were polite and very respectful of the tenants apartment to the point of wearing shoe covers so as not to soil the carpet. The work was completed in a little over 2 hours. My only complaint and it's not a big one, is that the first contractor who attempted the job, I felt, was young and inexperienced. He was unable to complete the job without backup from a more experienced contractor. I felt this caused the job to take a little longer. However, the fact that he did call for assistance is a positive in my book. I will call them again for future work.

Jack proved he knew his stuff and wasn't trying to sell us whatever we were willing to pay for. We should put the proper size bulbs in our track lights to make the room brighter, he said, and then decide if we really wanted to shell out for recessed lights. We wanted a stronger bathroom fan; he turned the fan on, held a piece of tissue up, and pointed out the tissue wasn't moving. A stronger fan won't do you any good because there's probably, ductwork issues so you might want to save your money. Adam and Floyd were conscientious about using drop cloths and sweeping up, and closing the door after themselves (we have an indoor-only cat). They were punctual on the first day, and on the second, called to let me know they were going to be late (about half an hour). When they opened up the ceilings and discovered that what they had to work with wouldn't go with what we'd planned, they suggested options that looked good and saved money (fewer recessed lights, still looks terrific).

Received a prompt call back, and got an appointment quickly. They arrived on time, and diagnosed the burned out motor. They went to a local electrical supply house, purchased a replacement motor and installed it. The fan works OK now but makes a loud vibrating sound. It took a long time and a lot more money than I expected to replace the motor.

They were able to give me a quote over the phone, estimated 2-3 hours at $140/hr. Two electricians came out within the week at the time stated and finished the job within 3 hours. They were neat, friendly and walked me through all the fixes they made. I got exactly what I asked for, all the outlets and lights work again and the wiring is all cleaned up. They even fixed a pull chain on one light.

An estimator came out and gave an estimate right away, and in fact fixed a problem during the visit (a circuit breaker was tripped but looked like it was set). This was a nice contrast with a different electrician who we had been calling for weeks just to get him to come to the house. The workers were on time and (like the estimator) put booties over their shoes when they entered (nice touch). They finished the job in one visit and the work looks professional. The cost was exactly what they quoted us.

Very well, service was quick and efficient. Only complaint is that they didn't install anti-tipping device.

They showed up on time (even a few minutes early) and were very courteous. They were hard working and even worked right through lunch. The whole job took longer than we were told, and we were without electricity from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. They had to come back the next day and label the circuit box. The end result was exactly what we expected however. They removed some paint cans from the closet with the circuit box but did not replace them when the job was done.

Absolutely fantastic! They were responsive, on time, professional, courteous, and successfully completed all projects within the time line that they had estimated. I was referred to them after dealing with a no-show electrician, and Gibbons was a breath of fresh air. I will continue to use them and highly recommend them!

They offered good service, but they on the expensive side. I found them through Angie's List. They came out in a timely manner. Upon contacting them, they arrived within a day to complete the work. I would contact them again for electrical services.

They were very nice and very respectful of the house. I was happy to see them repair these two units very quickly and they cleaned up as if they were never there. I don t mind recommending them and will call on them again. Oh yes, they also gave me a free mug and magnet which I thought was cool.

They were very competent and kind. I liked that they were honest, hardworking, and helpful. They worked fast. There were two guys, and the boss came and checked everything before they left. I would highly recommend him.

The service person was on time, worked efficiently, and was very courteous. All of the work was completed in a couple of hours, and the quality of the work was good.

Great: initial contact clearly let me know what to expect w/ estimate of 2 hours for 2 man crew. Scheduled within week at my convenience. Crew arrived on time, special care to cleanliness (boot slippers), uncrating appliance, clearing work area. Determined need for additional venting to be done by another contractor, so they completed electrical preparation in full, scored in guide for cuts in location feeded for fit. Removed old microwave to curb for me, repackaged exhaust hood and hauled to garage until next contractor cold come. Replaced dimmer switch in dining light, offered to replace one burnt out bulb in unit. Invoice for 3/4 of estimated price.

Again, this was an estimate only. I liked the way Jack discussed the various options with me, and the estimate came back within a day. We decided to put off the work for a while. When we are ready for the expense, I may get another estimate, but would feel very comfortable using Gibbons Electric if the estimates are in the same ballpark. Very professional and personable.

Called for estimate and were punctual and professional. Provided a written estimate on the visit. Very knowledgeable, answered questions professionally and took pictures of the layout. Replaced fuse box, grounded service, and labeled circuits. Also installed a surge suppressor for the house. Other estimate was from a competitor. Very similar in price and also professional. Went with Gibbons because they suggested PVC wire vs. PVC pipe.

The company returned my call promptly and was professional on the phone. I asked for estimates on some small projects and was told it would probably be cheaper to hire them on a 'time & materials' basis @ $140/hr for a 2-man crew. The men arrived exactly on schedule. After I showed them the work I wanted done, they said that their office was short-handed that day, and that since my jobs would require only 1 man, the 2nd man wouldn't be staying, and I'd be charged 'only' $100/hr for a 1-man crew. (Unsaid: The job(s) would take longer to complete, and I'd be paying more per person per hour than quoted!) The work itself was done competently but not 'artfully' (the GFI isn't level, and a ceiling wire wasn't pushed into the wall as it should have been). More important, the workman gave me a total cost just before he left, but the main office tried to charge me a larger amount. They issued a small credit when I complained. In all, the work was OK, but I was disappointed by the experience.

Very thoughtful and professional. They also gave me free cups with their name on it!

They came on time, we explained our needs, they worked professionally and efficiently and asked questions when necessary. They left the rooms clean and free of debris.

Jack was on-time for the estimate, which he left with me after the meeting. Work was schedule within a weeks time. Electrician wired the condenser unit, but not the thermostat as a result of a miscommunication of the work that I needed to be completed. Jack responded quickly to my complaint that the thermostat had not been wired and had an electrician complete the job the same day at no additional cost. Cleaned-up work area. Overall, I was satisfied with the work performed and would use again.

Gibbons returned my call promptly and gave me a reasonable estimate, including time and materials rates for troubleshooting and a flat-fee per phone/cable jack price. They scheduled the work promptly, showed up on time and did a good job. I noticed a spot where one of the new cable jack covers does not fully cover the hole they made in the wall, and a light bulb mysteriously disappeared from one of our lamps (maybe they used it to test something and forgot to put it back?), but those minor quibbles are my only complaints. They also accepted a coupon I got in a "welcome neighbor" mailing for $50 off the job price.

I feel that they did a fine job with everything. It was a small job and unfortunately I do not recall how much I paid for it. It was reasonable and well worth it though. The man was very nice to deal with. He was on time and everything went fine.

Jack McGurk responded immediately to set up a time to give me an estimate for the work. Jack showed up promptly for an early morning appointment and I was impressed with his thoroughness during the inspection. He followed up within a day or two with an e-mail estimate on the job (love it) and the work was completed a couple days later. Great stuff -- I'm sure I could have found someone to do the work for less, but it's worth paying a bit more to work with professionals like Jack and the folks at Gibbons. I highly recommend them.

Great! I was told the charge would be $140. When the worker called in he was told to charge $160, I explained the estimate by phone had been $140, so that was what I paid.
