"From start to finish, Steve was a dream to work with. First, he educated us on the different kinds of films to put on our new windows. He left us with three different patches of film on our window for a week so we can make a decision based on what kind of light and how it looks with different weather patterns. During the installation process Steve was a professional. Explained the entire process step by step. He was efficient, kind, and informative. His price was fair, his work and performance were off the charts, and above all, he was just a great guy. We are grateful we found him and our new home looks better than before!"
"Yuriy was out to our home this morning to look at a variety of issues we were having with double hung windows and locks. Yuriy was on time, very professional and clearly knows everything about windows, balancers and other mechanisms. He was able to repair everything on the spot. I appreciated that he leaned toward repairing, and not replacing parts if possible. A great experience overall! I highly recommend them without reservation."
"Spoke with April in the office. She had someone over that day to give price on window repair. Gentleman was on time and did great job telling me how to take window out and offering that when the glass is ready to install it would be quicker an cheaper to bring window to them for repair myself. I wouldn't wait long and they would do it and send me home with it repaired. They called 6 days later and said to come on over with window. I waited 10 minutes and it was done! The wonderful gentleman even explained how to get the window back in the track and if there was a problem to call him without hesitation. Fortunately it went right back in as he instructed and the window is now working great. Would highly recommend them and use them anytime in the future! "
"Windows are high quality replacement windows. I had 14 windows replaced. Workmen knew what they were doing and answered all my questions. I would use them again."
"I love my new windows! Everyone at ProEdge was friendly and professional, including Brian the sales rep, Bill the manager, and the installers who did an amazing job replacing nearly all of the windows in my house in only half a day, leaving all work areas in pristine condition before leaving. The lifetime warranty is another bonus that you just do not see from most other companies. I will definitely be back in touch when I am ready to install my bay window!"
Yes, but professionals use specialized equipment and cleaning solutions to safely achieve streak-free, long-lasting results.
The material around a window is simply called the window frame, but the individual pieces also have different names. The top portion of the frame is called the head, the side pieces are called jambs, and the bottom portion is called the sill. If you have multiple windows next to each other, you’ll also have a mullion, which is the frame piece that separates the individual windows. Windows stacked on top of each other are separated by a horizontal frame piece, which is called a transom.
Most modern egress windows installed in basements open outward into a window well, although some older homes have in-swing windows. Egress windows, like casement windows used in other parts of the home, such as bedrooms and bathrooms, may open inward, and these windows are often larger than outward-opening windows.
Glazing is always done from the outside of the window, while the inside doesn’t require any glazing. This is because the main purpose of glazing is to create a weather-tight seal where the glass meets the frame, protecting against drafts and moisture. Since the exterior is exposed to the elements, that’s the side that needs the weatherproofing.
Casement windows are more expensive than some other window types, such as single-hung or double-hung windows. However, casement windows are not the most expensive type of window. Bow and bay window costs tend to be the highest, because they involve multiple large windows that jut out from the exterior of the home.
