"Seth is wonderful! His many years of experience with all things glass/windows is incredible! He traveled quite a distance to come and repair a window. I am going to have him back in the Spring to do some more work for me."

"I waited a while because they are backed up due to Covid but they were definitely worth the wait. They were precise, quick and extremely detailed. They put two windows in for me (where windows didn't exist before) and covered up a window. They insulated and everything. No painting but that was cool. I was very impressed. Definitely would recommend them and hire them again...and again....and again"

"I really enjoyed my experience with Yankee Home Improvement. They were professional, kind and quick. The initial meeting is the only thing I would critique. We were told it would be no longer than an hour and it ended up being close to 3 hours. The gentleman who came out to talk to us was great and very knowledgeable but there is a ton of information he was required to go through with us. They are also trying to make a sale on the spot so they offer discounts that will expire if you don't make the purchase before they leave your home. I would suggest that potential customers do their research in regards to pricing etc beforehand. Other than that the experience was very positive, they give a great warranty and stand behind their product and service 100%. The gentlemen who installed the windows were quick, careful and tidy. I would definitely recommend Yankee to family and friends."

"We had American Hime Fitters put in a couple doors and windows. We called about a month ago, they were very prompt and professional showing up on time. Our materials as well as the install happened quicker than we expected right before Christmas. If you are looking to get projects done this is the Go to Company. Jay and Shawn were a great pleasure to work with and they made our dreams and expectations happen."

Windows questions, answered by experts

To ensure the longevity and smooth functioning of new windows, regular maintenance is essential. This includes cleaning the glass and frames, inspecting seals for leaks or damage, and reapplying caulking as needed. It is also important to lubricate all moving parts and operating mechanisms to ensure they continue to operate smoothly.

Most windows last between 15 and 30 years. The exact life span depends on a few things, including the frame material, the quality and type of glass, the weather in your area, whether or not the window is installed properly, and more. You can always speak with a window professional about whether or not it’s time to replace your windows or if repairs would be more affordable. You’ll need to consider the cost of replacing your windows, the cost of repair, and the longevity of each solution.

The best way to clean outside windows is by using a garden hose. Start by spraying the windows with a high-pressure stream to clear off loose dirt and grime. Then use a mixture of hot water and dish soap and scrub the windows with a sponge. Rinse off the soapy water with the hose. Before you finish up, spray the windows with a solution of vinegar and water and wipe them down with a microfiber cloth.

The best thing to clean windows with is a mixture of white vinegar, warm water, and dish soap. This will remove dirt, pollen, and grime without destroying any tints or protective films on your glass. You can also use a commercial window cleaner, but make sure to choose one that doesn’t have ammonia in it, as this can damage window coverings and frame materials over time.

Arched windows are slightly more expensive than standard rectangular ones, but they only cost $50 to $100 more per window. However, adapting a rectangular wall opening to accept an arched window can add $200 to $400 to your total, making them a more expensive option over sticking with a standard window replacement.
