If you’re looking for shelving that will stand up to years of heavy stacking, plywood is the clear winner against MDF (a.k.a. medium-density fiberboard). Plywood is a sturdy material that resists sagging, warping, and splitting, making it the perfect fit for shelving in a variety of spaces. For sheds, garages, and other environments that aren’t climate-controlled, wood or plywood is a must, as moisture and humidity will cause MDF to warp over time. While MDF is the more wallet-friendly material, it should only be used for storing lighter items in a climate-controlled space. 

Yes, you can and likely should mix knobs and pulls on different cabinets in your kitchen. Typically, pulls are helpful on cabinets at high levels and knobs are great for lower cabinets, but it’s all up to preference. It is a good rule to always pack dishes vertically rather than flat. When you place your dishes upright, like records in a crate, the pressure from the weight of the other plates reduces, minimizing potential damage. Also, ensure you use cushioning between each plate and that the box is well-padded.

You don’t necessarily need to seal bathroom cabinets after painting, especially if you’ve used a gloss or semigloss paint. But adding a coat of high-quality sealant can add a layer of protection against bathroom moisture that can cause the wood to swell or warp or allow mold and mildew growth.
