At the end of the day, a strong rain storm came and washed some of the concrete away. I notified Demoine and he was there the next morning replacing and fixing the issue at no extra charge. "Doug Doucet came to repair our gutters. We trusted him to give us good service and a fair price. He did not clean out the gutters, they were still packed with leaves and debris after he left. After paying him $800, we then had to pay a carpenter to complete the work that he did not do. He also spent more time trying to repair one of the box miters instead of just putting a new one. It looked horrible! We had to get a carpenter to take it off and put a new one on, again having to pay him for what Doug should have done. AND, when we called him to tell him he should have put a new box miter, he said he didn't have one with him, but he could come back and charge us another $50!!!!!!"

However, it's important to check your local regulations and building codes to make sure, as this can differ depending on your location. If you notice standing water under the deck after rainstorms, you may need a drainage system to efficiently move this water. You do not want standing water to rest against your foundation or against support posts for the deck, as this could cause significant structural problems over time. Make sure the area has proper grading, too.

Start with a 60- or 80-grit sandpaper when sanding a deck, though this could change depending on the type of wood that comprises the deck and how smooth you want the overall finish. If you prioritize a smooth final finish, progress to a finer grit like 120 or 150. Avoid ultra-fine grits for traditional sanding, as it could close up the wood pores and make it harder to apply a finish down the line.
