You can buy DIY mirror repair kits to carry out minor repairs on mirrors, but we don’t recommend it. Repairing and resilvering mirrors is a delicate process that involves caustic chemicals and demands a high level of precision for positive results. The materials will likely cost over $100, meaning you won’t be saving that much over hiring a professional. Plus, since mirror repair and resilvering are easy to mess up, you might pay more to hire a repair pro after your DIY attempt. As such, we recommend hiring a mirror repair expert from the start.

If you have a small damaged mirror, chances are it’s better to replace it, as the repair will average around $200, and replacement could cost around the same price. If you’re working with a large mirror—like one over a bathroom vanity or a large floor mirror—or an antique mirror, it’s often more affordable to repair it.
