Eye Care - Optometry
They do very good surgery and correction. They're front office customer service is a failure. They try to get you in to do more treatment. We ordered glasses and we waited weeks and weeks, they were the wrong glasses and they did not care. Their front office staff spend more time arguing with each other than paying attention to their customers.

I showed up a few minutes late due to traffic on Airline Hwy, and the staff was relatively accommodating. After a 20 minute wait in the general waiting area with about 20 other people, my name was called. A nice (but quiet) nurse took me through all of the testing they do without much small talk. All of the equipment appeared clean and high tech. After the initial testing, I was sat in a quiet room where I waited for the optometrist for over 30 minutes. The center was pretty busy, so I assume things were just hectic that time of day (4-5 pm). When I finally saw her, she was very nice but seemed rushed.

Overall I have two complaints:

1) I think the optometrist should be more involved throughout the process as they have been in all of my other experiences. A 30 minute wait in a holding room is far too long, especially considering the fact that my total time at clinic was over 2 hours.

2) They try to charge a $100 'fitting fee' or some weird charge that I have never incurred at other locations. For this reason alone, I will be looking for a new eye doctor in Baton Rouge next time I need a new prescription.

Everything else was relatively good. Nice people, clean place, easy to make an appointment.

The visit went very well. Prior to my visit I had to complete an extensive medical sheet concerning a history of my eye care. On the day of the visit the wait time was not long at all. I had read some of the reviews before that there was a long wait but this was not the case for me. All of the staff was very friendly and helpful.
What i was happy about was that the Ophthalmologist had actually reviewed my on-line medical data that I had previously submitted as opposed to asking me the same series of question all over again. They did a through exam and I was well pleased. They gave me a copy of my eye prescription but I appreciate the fact that they did not try to pressure me into purchasing my glasses from their optical shop. They left this to decision up to me.

I had my first visit with Dr. Williamson to determine if I was a good candidate for LASIK. After having a typical eye exam, dilation, and tear production test it was determined that I was a good candidate for the LASIK surgery. I have always known that I had amblyopia or a and quot;lazy eyeand quot;. This eye cannot see as well as my other eye even with corrective lenses. I volunteered that information at the beginning of the exam. During that exam Dr. Williamson still seemed concerned by the results of my vision test. He said that they were not able to get my other eye all the way to 20/20 with corrective lenses. After asking some questions he learned that I never consistently wore glasses until I was about 10 years old. He explained that because I had not worn glasses all of that time, the brain-eye connection basically hadn't fully developed (the same as my other eye, but to a lesser extent). He had another medical term to describe it, but I can't remember what it is. This was actually a relief to me, because in the past I have dreaded every eye exam because I felt like it was a test that I was failing miserably and couldn't improve. It didn't matter how many times they flipped those lenses around, they were never satisfied with my results.
Anyway, we discussed that with LASIK I wouldn't be able to see any better than I could at that time with glasses or contacts, so not quite 20/20. I determined that seeing that well without wearing glasses or contacts was worth having the surgery. I had the surgery about 2 months later and have had no issues. I feel like I see the best that I have ever seen and don't have to deal with the daily hassle of glasses or contacts.
The day of surgery went very smoothly and the procedure was over in about 15 minutes. The next two weeks were very tiring as I was getting used to my new vision. Supposedly the procedure is a little more difficult for far-sighted people to get acclimated to.
I definitely recommend Dr. Williamson. My husband is planning on having LASIK as well and we will be going back to Williamson Eye Center for the procedure.

They gave me a very through examination. They were prompt, polite, and they really explained to me everything to me in detail. They are really as good as gold.

First visit was an evaluation where they explained all that was going to happen. First surgery was on 8/14 for left eye and second surgery was on 8/21 for right eye. She had some scratchy feeling at first but did not last long. I am writing this on 9/13 and my wife is very pleased and says that she can see things that she has never been able to see before, even with glasses or contacts.
Her vision is now 20/20 in both eyes.
Will recommend without reservation. Just do what they tell you to do in preparation and after surgery
