We had problems with our gas burners in the kitchen - two burners would not come on. This was in mid-January 2014. The problem turned out to be starter module which Stanton's replaced at a cost of about $260 (parts and labor). Now hear it is early July and the burners have gone out again. I placed two calls to their service department for some sort of reasonable resolution. The result was "the part has a 3 month warranty and we will not give you any help with labor to come out and put in a second starter module". Basically, they said you are just blank out of luck. I've been dealing with Stanton's for at least 15 years and never had such a mean spirited attitude from them - and I will never again. There are too many companies we can take our business to. Their line of products are good as are their prices. But not so with their service!!!
Kenny found the problem, repaired the mechanism, then installed water/ice maker filter. Whole experience was handled professionally, from the first phone call to the final check.
.
Larry came out on January 7th and gave us an estimate to install the cooktop ($125), reroute the downdraft ($275), and drop a gas line over the stove ($750). They didn't have a set time for him to come out (they said he makes his own schedule each day, depending on where he has to go), but he called us 20 minutes before he showed up. This worked for our schedules, but I'm not sure what they'd do if you needed a specific time.
.
Ultimately, we decided to go with an induction cooktop ($1450) and a fume hood ($239 - reduced from $269). (I checked the price of the cooktop at other retailers and the price we got was $100-$150 less at Stanton's. Very happy with the price!)
.
We scheduled Larry to install our new appliances on January 15th, but again no specific time. He again called 20-30 minutes before arriving.
.
The installation went smoothly. They charged us a little extra ($40) because they had to widen the opening in the countertop in order to fit the new cooktop. I do have two minor complaints:
.
1) They tracked mud into the house every time they came in the door. To their credit, it had been pouring for days and it was wet outside, but we walk in and out and don't have this problem. We put a towel down after we saw the tracks, but it would have been nice if they had worn booties or provided a towel.
.
2) They left the electric cord and box for the cooktop hanging down in the cabinet. I wish they had attached it to the wall, which would have made the large cabinet more usable. Instead I have this huge cord hanging in the middle of the cabinet and I'm afraid to attach it to the wall because I don't want to void any guarantee on their work.
.
In the end, they did a beautiful job installing the hood in the cabinet above the cooktop and the new cooktop was was installed very nicely. Overall time spent installing everything was around 3-4 hours.
We will, of course, never use this company again.
