Russell Pool Service LLC

Russell pool service has improved the quality and responsiveness of their service team.  Last year I needed service and it took a long time to get them to my home.
Last month and this week I have called and they have turned around my request for service almost immediately.  I was at their office yesterday getting supplies and had a few questions and this morning at 9 am. I had a service person at my home - friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful with the part to make my pool work.

Keith Russel installed our custom pool. I cant say enough about how nice and helpful he is. I've never met a contractor as responsive and friendly. He's worth every penny to do your pool.

Overall, this company is NOT user-friendly! They cleaned weekly and the day of my service would be the day I would have breakdowns and problems, then when I would call them, they didn't have time to get back out to help me until it was convenient for them. I began to suspect that their servicemen were doing something at least a couple times a month to break something with the filter, because of the problems occuring on the DAY of my service, then they would come out -days later and say its just my pool and filter and they had nothing to do with it. I had multiple leaks, seals broken, constantly needing new parts, they installed a timer which quit working and they replaced it once and it also quit working. They never hold themselves accountable for these constant problems, but it seems suspicious to me that the pool can be working fine until after they leave, then mysteriously, I have a pool breakdown of some sort. I have put up with this for too long!

This company was chosen as it had been used by the previous owner of the home for years and I assumed they would be honest and most familiar with the pool and spa in question. The serviceman received one call after another on his mobile phone while performing the inspection, his attention was not on his work. I based my decision to purchase the home based on his report which stated that 1) the cleaner is in good condition; 2) the coping is in good shape and not missing any bricks; 3) time clocks both look good; 4) very tight plumbing, no leaks found; 5) lights are working properly; and 6) skimmer has putty in the throat indicating it is leaking or has leaked in the past. The previous owner, present during the inspection commented that it had been fixed and all was well with the skimmer. Within the first two weeks of moving into my new home I discovered it was losing 1-2 inches of water daily. I had to hire 3 different pool service companies before finding out that the cleaner was not working properly, the coping around the spa is loose, neither time clock was working, there was an obvious leak on a pipe connected to one of the pumps, the lights are broken and the skimmer was seriously leaking. The serviceman with the the third pool company, arranged by my home warranty representative, advised that the putty in the skimmer was old, crumbling and there were 2 distinct layers present. These findings took 10 minutes to determine. Only the plumbing leak was covered under the warranty. I have already spent several hundred dollars to repair the most critical items. Had the inspection been performed with any diligence, these defects would have been found and reported and I would NOT have bought the house. I wrote to Russel Pool asking for a refund of my $125 fee, with copies of all supporting documentation, and have received no response whatsoever.
