"Thanks so much for taking the time to give us a review! -Shane"
the service technician arrived at the property on the 29th. I was not notified that they were coming but my tenant called to tell me they broke the water line- so, I knew they were there. I went to the property and Matt was working on repairing the water line - which was good. I then once again told him what the service technician had told me about the bad section of clay pipe that needed to be replaced from the toilet to the main sewer line by the driveway. I did not stay while he did the work. When I came back on Monday to check, I noticed that there was no evidence of digging under the house. This concerned me because that's what the other technicians told me it needed to be done. I called the office and I was told that the original service people are not qualified to tell me what was wrong. I was there the entire time they had worked on cleaning the drain and saw that they had to go under the house where we had installed a clean out at the toilet. Only then were they able to remove the roots that had invaded the drain line. The manager, Jimmie, told me that they installed a cleanout at the driveway and a coupling. He told me that if it got clogged again, they would clean it out with the 1 year warranty. I did not want to have a recurring problem and that's why I wanted the clay drain line replaced where the original technicians told me that it needed.
I sent several letters to Roto Rooter and finally told them I would not pay until I knew they had fixed the problem. I asked that Matt who did the work to call me. As of this time I have not heard from him. When I asked Jimmie if they were going to fix this issue, he said "no". He said that I didn't read the bid right. The bid said that once the line was exposed that the bad section would be cut out and clean outs would be installed.(they were also going to use a camera to inspect the line to make sure everything was alright) I only saw 1 clean out installed-so I don't know where the other clean out was installed.
This issue has never been resolved and they are still charging me for the job even though the area that needed to be replaced was not replaced. I plan to have another service provider complete the job.
"Some of this is true, some is not. There has been confusion the entire time thru this job. Original technician was a drain cleaner who cleaned the line for $185.00 on 4/24/15 he found a bad spot using his cable. Gave his opinion without running a camera. Mrs [removed member name] requested a bid on 5/13/15 to repair the broken spot and install a 2 way cleanout. On 5/15/15 a Licensed plumber gave a bid to repair the broken spot and install a 2 way clean-out and video the remaining line to ensure the rest of the line was good. Mrs [removed member name] signed a bid with the wording: Excavating soil on side of house between driveway and house to expose main sewer line. Once line is exposed and bad section cut out, clean out will be installed on outlet from house on main trunk line from garage to street. Line will then be video inspected to check condition of remaining pipe. All pipe replaced will be with scd40 PVC pipe and fittings. Nowhere in there did we ever say we would replace an entire sewer line. The video alone costs $300 on a day to day basis. She signed the bid. We had several conversations about what exactly we were doing. We hand wrote that the clean-out installed would be a 2 way clean-out before it was signed. While on the job we did break a water line at the home underground. It happens. We fixed at no charge. There is no way to mark water lines on the residential side before work. We did the job per bid. After the job Mrs [removed member name] did send letters and we explained several times that this was never a replacement bid. GO back and read the bid she signed. NO way could we replace the entire sewer line for $550 for the repair and $300 for the camera totaling $850.00 We did not reply with letters because we had a signed bid. We did have the tech call once but got no answer so he did not try returning calls because by this time Mrs [removed member name] was sending letters. We offered to extend our drain cleaning warranty to 1 year beyond the 30 day drain cleaning warranty. This is a rental property and tenants are very likely to stop up a line in comparison to a homeowner we were going to cover it because we were confident in our repair and our plumber. There is a 1 year warranty on our plumbing repair. We spent $72.27 in parts for repair and $11 on water line repair. This was not a profit job. This was a straight up job. This was intended to be a 4 hour repair plus $50 in parts and $300 for the camera. We spent 8 hours which does include the 1 hour to fix the water line. We did not try to go beyond our bid in collecting for additional hours for hard excavation and hard connections. We gave a bid and stuck with it. As of this point we have not been paid for the $850.00 She has a good sewer line, a good clean-out, and a happy tenant."
"Parts of this are true. We went out originally. Did the drain work. Went out a 2nd time for free to give the bid. Gave the bid. Customer wanted a 3rd trip at no charge to go over job again. I discussed over the phone. We were busy on drain emergencies and couldn't afford to go out for free again. Customer went a different direction by the time we had more free time. Very sorry. Shane"
Note that they did not come on the day they said they would come, but the next day. It was not an issue since this was a dryer vent and not an emergency.
"This is not for Roto-Rooter Baton Rouge franchise. This is for Roto-Rooter New Orleans corporate."
