Very thorough. Takes his time. Looks at all major components and minor. Reports have a nice summary. He is easy to discuss items with and will answer questions. Also easy to contact with in advance and after the inspection.

We were 100% pleased with Ron's services. The manual he provided is dense and detailed, with lots of pictures--it overwhelmed me at first. Ron sees the manual as your home's guide for the years to come, not just a list issues that should be fixed before a sale is complete. I read it through a few times, and then called him to ask a few questions--Ron was so helpful. I would absolutely use him again--worth every penny.

I am stationed all the way in South Dakota with the Air Force and am trying to purchase a home in the Houma/Thibodaux, LA area. I found Ron Morrison on Angie's List and the statement that made me chose him as an inspector was (paraphrasing)"he is not referred by Real Estate Agents to buyers because his inspection are so thorough that often times agents will lose a sale." I called him to schedule an inspection and he was very courteous and professional on the phone. He was flexible with his dates and met my scheduling needs. We had an appointment for less than a week later. My husband (who has returned to Louisiana for the purchase process) was able to meet him at the house (a full hour and a half from where Mr. Morrison lives) and accompany him during the inspection. Mr. Morrison explained in detail all of the defects. The very next day I received an extremely thorough report with pictures. This is our first time buying a home and we don't want to pay for a house that will cost us more in the long run. Mr. Morrison's inspection has given us the knowledge we need to make the right decision for us. In case you were wondering we still intend to purchase the home, after the seller makes a few corrections.

However, he did not tell me (verbally) that the back-side of the roof was too low pitch (not enough slope) for the shingles that were used. He did indicate in his report the following line:

and quot;The slope on some portions of the roof appears to be minimal for pitched roof shingle installation; monitor. Most manufacturers suggest 3and quot;-4and quot; on 12and quot; for this type of shingle application; monitor (rear addition).and quot;

So, technically, he did and quot;tell me.and quot; But this was buried in his 40 page report, and he never indicated verbally (I was at the inspection) to me that I should be concerned. I think for a $500 inspection fee, he should have said this!

I had a window leak, so I called a roofer to see if there was a roof problem. The first guy wanted to replace that section ($5K cost!). The second roofer I called said it was just the caulking around the window and fixed it for free with an Angie's list coupon. I hope that was the only problem. If I do have to replace the roof soon, then I will certainly update this review!.

Ron used to be a real estate agent and he is an HVAC repair person, so he knows a great deal about the major systems that he is inspecting.

I valued Ron's opinion so much that I brought him back to the walk through. I tell all my friends to use Ron. I will use Ron again if I ever buy a house.

Mr. Morrison and an assistant provided a very thorough inspection of our home before we finalized the purchase. They were very diligent and took about 4 hours to examine the structure, home systems, the crawl space, roof, outlets, etc. They also tested the plumbing and appliances. After the inspection, he provided a nice report within 24 hours in PDF format with photographs. The items in need of urgent repair or were not up to code were highlighted and explained in detail.
