It went well. We chose them because the price was fair for the quality of they unit. The people were very knowledgeable and friendly.

We have a service agreement with them. So we pay just annually, and renewal is not up until the winter. They are excellent. We have used them for the last 26 years.

We had a failed air conditioner compressor, and they came out and replaced that and put a whole new unit in. On the cost, I think the unit was barely under warranty, to tell you the truth I don't remember. I'm thinking a couple of thousands. Those things ain't cheap. It was also an upgrade to a more efficient unit. I would say a couple of thousands. Like I said air conditioning units ain't cheap. One other thing we had done was the motor on the blowers unit went out. I remember again that was in the middle of the summer probably about this time of year, about three years ago. They were out the next day to replace it. That was under warranty still, barely, but it was still under warranty, so I don't think it cost us anything other than the labor to put it back in. They're very professional. As far as I know, they're reasonably priced. The people are professional, you ask them a question and they'll tell you.

I think we had them since we moved into the house 25 years ago. They come out and do routine preventative maintenance twice a year. They come out the beginning of air conditioning season. Then, they come out the beginning of heating season. Actually, they're coming out later this month to make sure the furnace is working and everything and checking the air conditioner again. It works out to about $75 a call. That's just for the maintenance if somethings wrong of course that's just extra. I'm speaking off the top of my head; I don't know I have to look at my records. We pay annually. Let's just say 200 bucks. They come out prior to air conditioning season here which is probably end of March. They come out and check the freon level. They check the thermostat to see if it's functioning. They check the blower on the unit. They check for any leaks of freon. They clean the outside condenser. They do just a general check-up and preventive type of stuff. Same thing with the furnace. I had no problems with them whatsoever. We've been using them at least 20 years.

In my experience I can't think of anything they can improve on. They seem to be right on top of everything. If you are do for another inspection they call me and ask me to make an appointment without me having to keep track of it. If they are running late they call and say they are running late. I haven't had any bad experience with them.

...They motor on the blower unit went out. They were out the next day to replace it. That was under warranty. It didn't cost us anything except the labor. They go about their business. If I ask whats going on they tell me exactly what they are doing. If I ask what kind of problems I have they have no problems explaining it to me. IN fact they come out and showed me a couple things I wasn't aware of, that they didn't take care it. They would tell me you might want someone to come out and take a look at it.

Guy who came didn't remember where the stairs were, where his tools were, or much of anything else. Found our bathroom cabinets had been gone through. Notified Ram - To our knowledge nothing was done. I won't use these folks again.

I had Ram H&A install 2 Trane units 3 years ago. I still had 1 older unit that was working well. Ram H&A came every 6 months to service all 3 units for 3 years now. On Monday, the older unit was not cooling. I called RAM H&A and they came right out to take a look. The technician said there was a leak, no freon, and the compressor was bad. He recommended a new unit. I called to set up installation of the new unit and wanted it done ASAP since this unit cooled my 4 son's bedrooms. They told me that the next day they could install would be in a week and a half. I started calling other recommended companies from Trane.com. I talked to Jeremy at Baton Rouge Air Conditioning who immediately offered to pull a compressor out of a unit from their pile of used units (at no charge) and said he would install it the very next day to get me by until he could install the new Trane unit. He came out to install the used compressor to find out that there is a terrible leak behind the exterior wall that could be heard from a couple of feet away. Ram H&A did say there was a leak, but they never recommended fixing the copper line that was actually leaking and probably caused the freon to leak and the compressor to stop working. The new Trane unit was going to get me very far with a huge leak that could be heard from behind a brick wall. Jeremy spent all day here replacing the copper line and installing a used Trane unit that would properly cool my sons' bedrooms until the new unit could be installed next week. While I understand that all HVAC companies are busy right now with the flood victims, I did expect RAM to take care of an existing customer at least temporarily. I was very thankful to Baton Rouge Air for helping a new customer. I will no longer be using RAM H&A.

On 5/11/2016, a Ram technician came to do the routine, six-month inspection on my two HVAC units.
Three days later, the 10,000 BTU unit failed. Ram came by on a Sunday and diagnosed (in order, and over about a week):
a bad blower motor
a bad control board on the inside evaporator
a bad pair of capacitors on the outside condenser motor
a bad thermostat
All were replaced, and the unit is now working.
Eight days after the inspection, our independent 5,000 BTU unit failed (blower & compressor running, but no cooling). Ram came by & diagnosed a faulty compressor. I was quoted $2,000 for compressor replacement or significantly more to replace the entire system.
I had doubts about the compressor diagnosis due to the observed conditions. The compressor was laboring, and had 146 psig of discharge pressure, but only 9 psig of suction pressure. I thought that if the compressor was bad, the pressure differential shouldn't be so great.
I shut off the unit, waited a day, and turned it back on. It seemed to be working fine, but I called another HVAC company to confirm. They confirmed (in writing, and after testing all parts of the system) that the unit appeared to be working perfectly.
I'm very disappointed that the Ram technician would recommend an expensive compressor replacement without additional troubleshooting.
Additionally:
One of the three Ram technicians who were at our house forgot where the stairs were to the attic (where he had just been working), where the back exit door of the house was (that he had entered less than 20 minutes previously), and that he'd left his tools in the bathroom (where he stayed for nearly 30 minutes).
Another of the three technicians who were at our house spent 55 minutes in his van texting (my wife observed and timed this).
Although this company has an A rating on Angie's List at the time of this review, we do not plan to use Ram Heating and Air again.

The compressor was making a loud noise and they fixed that. It was great. They were here on time and they gave us an estimate. They were back when they were supposed to be. I was pleased with it. They had to order a part so the job took a couple of days.

I got this company from Angie's List and the guy that came out to do the estimation was very professional. He gave me a card, looked up measurements and did different things about it. The work seems fine as of this time.

They did a fabulous job. I was having humidity problems in my home...they diagnosed the issue and recommended that I purchase a smaller unit as the solution. I have been very pleased.

Mike the technician was very friendly and personable. He seemed more knowledgeable than other technicians I've encountered from other companies. He is very good at explaining any issue and pointing out the exact problem. He also answered any questions I had thoroughly.
The two time's Mike has performed work at our house our daughter was taking a nap and he was very quiet not to wake her. We wouldn't have been mad if she woke up, but it was a bonus she was not woken up.
I'm very happy with the responsiveness of this company when calling with an issue. A lady by the name of Brittany usually answers the phones and is always friendly and courteous. Ram is very prompt and clear about when someone is going to arrive.
I have zero complaints about this company and will continue to use them.

I found RAM Heating & Air right here on Angie's List. I had been having trouble with my old York furnace for a couple of years. They came out in late Nov. 2012 and helped me determine to not throw good money
after bad by trying to keep my old furnace going. They upgraded my
furnace & evaporator coils up in my attic from a 2 1/2 ton York to a
new 3 ton TRANE. My condenser unit was a lower level Rheem which seemed
to still be working at that time. To the technician Mike's credit,
he didn't try to hard sell me on replacing it at that time.
The Rheem unit starting acting up this year when needed during the warmer
days. RAM re-evaluated it for me and showed me where it was in fact
leaking at the coils. They upgraded my condenser from a 2 1/2 ton Rheem
to a 3 ton TRANE. The difference between my old system components and
the new TRANE equipment is like night and day. RAM specializes in TRANE
installation and service.
The owner, Jim Stevens gave me a full system discount which pleased me greatly. He's a great guy to deal with.
His team is first rate as well. The installers, Jimmy & Eric ( furnace & coils), and Kevin ( condenser) are all skilled technicians
and really good guys. The service technician, Mike, also did a great
job from the very beginning. The office manager, Brittany, is also very
responsive. All in all, the entire RAM team is professional, friendly
and good at what they do. I also purchased their service agreement which
is reflected in my cost indicated in this review. I feel that I received good value for all work performed.
Hire them with confidence. You won't regret it.

We have had several a.c. companies over the years. Some were good, but these guys are EXCELLENT! They provided an annual service agreement that reduces our costs a lot. We can't say enough good about this company and all their staff.

The repair person showed up the morning promised. The inspection was prompt, professional, and had my AC unit running again in less than 30 minutes.
The repair person also offered a "twice annual" service plan that included free repair labor should anything break at any time in between the scheduled service calls. I accepted the service plan. In my case, because my original service call occurred prior to accepting the service plan, I was charged for both the initial service call and the service plan. I was a bit disappointed, hoping that since I was signing up for the plan, my initial visit would be covered under the new plan, but it was not to be.
Within a week after the initial service call, the "first of two annual" service visits occurred. The workers inspected (thoroughly) both of my central compressors/condensers and air-handlers/evaporators. Finding nothing wrong, the service will repeat in six months.
We are comfortable paying for the "perpetual service" plan, and think that the money spent was worthwhile. So far, we are pleased with Ram Air and would recommend them to others. Should your AC need service however, I would recommend signing up for the annual plan FIRST so that the initial service call will occur under the annual fee rather than being billed separately.

The job was done fantastically, very professional. The technician's communication with us was excellent. He explained what was happening, did not talk down to us, and was honest. We are very pleased.
