"On Sunday, 6/2/13 I received and responded to a call from (member name removed) regarding water in her house that came from a washing machine malfunction. I arrived at her house to assess the damage and subsequently dispatched 2 technicians to come and mitigate the damage. While waiting for the crew to arrive, I took measurements and photos. The crew arrived and began the mitigation process, which included removing damaged base trim and removing the laminate floating floor in the area affected. We treated the affected area with an antimicrobial and placed dehumidification and drying equipment to begin the drying process. This equipment was monitored and removed after 2 days. Sometime after this, I was contacted by (member name removed) advising me that she had discovered a scratch on her dining room table. She told me it had to be my people who did it because they piled stuff on her table to get it off the floor. She thought it could be repaired, maybe with a furniture pencil. I told her it is not our procedure to pile things on an unprotected table and that I recalled things already on the table when I got there. She insisted that we put the items on the table. I checked with my crew, who both have been with me for 10 years, and they both said things were already on the table when they got there, and all they did was move the table in order to remove the floor under it. I did not immediately call (member name removed) back, as I should have, and got busy and didn't think anymore about it. Several months later and after receiving this complaint, I contacted (member name removed) and apologized for letting this issue fall through the cracks. We agreed that I would have a furniture repair technician call and schedule an inspection of the table, and repair it on-site, if possible. The technician inspected the table on 11/4/13. He determined that because of the type of wood construction, the table could not be stripped & re-finished. He filled and colored the scratch; rewaxed, buffed & polished the table top. I was invoiced and paid Wood FX $150.00 for his service. The scratch is better, but can still be seen. I met with (member name removed) on 11/5/13 to inspect and try to reach an agreement. (member name removed) claims that my people piled stuff on the table and my people claim that things were already on the table when they arrived. I showed (member name removed) a photo I had taken before my crew arrived that shows a full garbage bag on the table in the area of the scratch. I told (member name removed) that due to the fact that things were already piled on the table before we arrived, I could not justify replacing the table. She agreed that the scratch did not warrant replacing the table, but said she still has a table with a scratch. I told her that if there was something else I could do, I would be glad to consider it, but at this point I don't feel there is anything else I can do."
UPDATE:
I filed a complaint with the BBB of Baton Rouge. I finally heard from Mr. Prestridge after he received the complaint and he stated
he wanted to try and correct the situation. He sent a furniture repairman out who tried filling, buffing and ironing the scratch. It darkened it some, but did not fix it. He came out and started out by saying his employees, that had been with him for ten years said I put all the stuff on my table, not them. He also produced a picture he had taken that showed a black garbage bag on one end of the table, as if that absolved them of blame somehow. The garbage bag contained sheets and a comforter. But, the real issue is the accusing and unsatisfactory manner in which he dealt with a problem. First by ignoring it until I filed a complaint and then by trying to insinuate that I was not being honest. It was a VERY unsatisfactory experience. I think probably part of the problem is that I am a disabled woman and he took advantage of that fact. I would NEVER use his company again for ANYTHING and I certainly would NOT recommend them to anyone.
We had some personalized items that were broken and destroyed by PRC, they tried hiding them and throwing some away so that they did not have to replace them. They claim to unpack and put things back in the home like they were hired for, but instead they placed everything in the hallway. the bed frames were not attached to the bed-heads,but instead pushed to the wall. When we checked and saw this, we were told that it wouldn't make a difference attached or unattached because they couldn't find the screws.
The owner has no respect for women and is very pushy. They gave us some invoices and forms to sign for work they claimed to have completed, when we revised the lists and pointed out the ones that were not done and the insurance should not have to pay for it; the owner was not happy.
The work was poor quality. They sent me to see the people who were making the kitchen cabinets, they gave me the address, when I got there, it was in someone's garage. It was very unprofessional and they only had 1 cabinet to show me.
After speaking to the owner on numerous occasions, I had to start calling from different numbers so that they would answer my phone calls, since they were ignoring calls from my number. I submitted an invoice with a list of the missing items, how much they cost, and some were not replaceable. I had a California king bedroom suite that originally cost me around $7,000. It's a 4-poster bed and they lost some of the pieces to it. They don't make that suite anymore and I can't buy the pieces individually. The owner said he went online and he couldn't find it either. The closest bed we could find to it was $1,999, he told me to take the loss and he would give me $350 for it.
They used cheap items to repair my home. The paint is peeling already. You can see where the sheetrock starts and ends. They didn't add any insulation into the wall where the water damage came from. You can hear through the wall.
The owner said that he can't guarantee or control what his employees do. There were a lot of different people coming in and out working on the home. He was trying to force me to sign paperwork on work that hadn't been completed yet so that he could get paid by the insurance company. He would get really upset and nasty if I didn't do what he said. the owner told me that he would get those papers sign by me one way or another after I told him that I won't return one particular invoice to him unless we were reimbursed for or items and the work is complete.
Every time we would stop by the house they were always on a break. we would come back an hour later, and they would still be on break. One of the workers yelled at me when I asked what they were working on and said that they were having a bad day and didn't want to be here working on my home. They moved my refrigerator into a different room that wasn't damaged so that they could keep their beer cold.
We had to purchase new clothes, etc. because we weren't expecting to be out of our home for that long of a time period. It was terrible and we are still dealing with them. We just want to put all of this behind me, but we can't because the job isn't done nor have we been compensated for the delinquent items.
The owner of the company called me today and threatened and hung up on me again after I told him that we were not going to sign off until our contract was satisfied . He received the check from the insurance company and my husband and I have to endorse it, he wanted us to meet him today. He's never returned my calls prior to receipt of the check, nor has he completed the work or re-imbursed us for the lost items that were in his possession. He's been making a lot of promises of sending someone, but never did.
