"[Member Name Removed] thanks again for your business and the good review. It was a pleasure to work with you. My guys enjoyed it as well. Have a Great Weekend! Don"
The equipment they brought included a large bucket truck, a small bucket truck, a track loader, a dump truck, a chipper, and lots of chain saws, ropes and safety harnesses.
The job was a difficult one, for three of the trees were very near our house. A large (45'-50' tall) river birch was growing less than 7 feet from the house, and was surrounded on the other 3 sides by steps/deck. They took it down without damage to anything (except one iris that got stepped on, and a wildflower that was run over by a piece of equipment--both will recover).
A second tree, an ash (35'-40' tall), was growing less than a foot from a magnolia that we wanted to save. (only damage was one tiny branch of the magnolia broken when the bucket arm brushed against it).
The third tree, a hackberry (40'+) was near the house, but out in the open, which should have made that job easier. But they couldn't get their equipment in to remove it, so they had to climb the tree and take it down a little at a time. (We should have had to pay extra for the entertainment of watching that procedure!)
The last tree was also a tall hackberry, but was far away from the house, so after trimming and topping, they were able to drop it to the ground before cutting it up.
The 10' stump was a relatively easy takedown. The original plan was to drop it into the front yard and leave it there, but they apparently decided to leave the front as clean as possible and so, moved it to the back. They used their front-loader to pick it up , then carried it to the back, where they placed it next to the downed hackberry and cut it into lengths. (Thanks, Carl. The extra work was unnecessary, but much appreciated!)
The wood chips had to be piled in front; they couldn't get their truck into the yard to dump them further back. Not a big deal. (We--and our neighbors--now have a gigantic pile of mulch to dress up flowerbeds and to use for paths through vegetable gardens.)
There were very few indentions in the yard from falling logs, because they piled branches up, then dropped the trunk pieces onto the pile, rather than directly onto the ground.
After they left, the yard wasn't spotless, but it was much cleaner than I could have asked for. In a few weeks, it will be difficult to tell that there was any tree work done. (Well, except for the logs that we haven't yet split and moved to the wood rack, but that's our job, not theirs.)
My neighbor had a tree that she wanted cut down, and a larger one that needed some rotten areas cut out, so while they were here, they took care of those as well.
They worked amazingly fast, but not carelessly. I had expected the job to take a couple of days, but they arrived a little before 7:00 am and were completely done by 2:00 pm. Five trees down, one tree trimmed, and 1 stump removed, all in 7 hours. We were amazed..
I had talked to 4 tree companies before deciding on Mr. D's. Mr. D's bid came in a little higher than some of the others, but the work we got was well worth the job we got. They are definitely our go-to tree guys next time we need tree work.
Mats were placed down everywhere the large trucks had to drive on my property (both driveway and lawns). The tree was removed in about half a days worth of time and everything went smoothly and safely. A rain storm came through as they were finishing the job, so Mr. D's crew returned the next morning to finish removing the debris. About two weeks after the tree was removed and the stump was able to dry (as well as the ground), the provider returned to grind the stump.
Mr. D.'s did a great job and choose them again if I had to do it all over again.
I'll also mention that I received two quotes for the job and Mr. D's price was very comparable. He won the job due to his quick response and timeliness with being able to remove the tree.
