Concrete Repair
FAILURE ...
WARNING:
1. All of the concrete surfaces poured by Maggio Concrete are 'discolored.'
2. There is 'chiping' along most of the expansion joints.
3. There are multiple low-areas on the surfaces.
In order to remedy the problem created by Maggio, 4 other concrete professionals advised me in writing that it will be necessary to completely break out and re-pour the entire project, at a total cost double that of the original price.
Maggio 'hung up' and would not answer any phone calls from me when I repeatedly attempted contact with him in order to get him to resolve the problems. Maggio did not reply to 2 letters from me. Maggio's attorney finally only responded to a letter from my attorney.
While I have a valid and perfect legal case (not small claims), I have decided to not pursue with any further legal proceedings against Maggio. My time and expendatures are not worth wasting the effort on this pathetic excuse for a business. Even though winning a judgement against Maggio would be easy, it would also be pointlless. According to his family-member attorney, "Maggio has no assets.".
In my opinion, Maggio Concrete is NOT RECOMMENDED.
I consider Nick Maggio to be flagrantly irresponsible, unprofessional, ignorant of proper business etiquite, and generally devoid of commonly accepted moral and socially redeeming qualities.

Concrete Repair
Mr. Nick Maggio poured concrete driveway for me for cost of $4,989.00 on May 21, 2008. Within 2 weeks of driveway being poured I begin having trouble with my toilets. On June 3, 2008 I called a sewer service co. and they ran equipment through my sewer line and told me the problem was under my new driveway. To fix this the driveway would have to be broken up. Mr. Maggio sent 2 of his worker to dig up a section of the driveway where the sewer service man had determined the problem to be. They found a broken sewer pipe where a truck had gotten stuck in the mud while working on the driveway. The large truck had to move back and forth to free itself from the mud. The sewer service man was at my house at the time and told the workers there was another leak in another section of driveway. They broke that section up and found that Mr. Maggio's crew had driven a stake thru the sewer pipe while forming up the driveway. (The cost that I had to pay the Sewer Service was $170 for 2 visits.) At that point I called a plumber and he came that afternoon. He talked to Mr. Maggio by phone about the repair but Mr. Maggio refused to pay the cost of the repair. (The cost I ended up having to pay the plumber was $690.00.) Both sections of broken concrete were placed on another section of my new driveway. Broken concrete was finally picked up by Mr. Maggio's crew around June 19, 2008. At that time there were cracks in that section of the driveway. Mr. Maggio continued to delay the repair of my driveway. Towards the end of June 2008 I contacted another person to break up the 3rd section and to form up and pour concrete in all three sections. By July 1, 2008 the person hired to complete the driveway, had completed the work on my driveway and I have had no more problems. This cost to me to fix the driveway was $2009.60. I contacted the Attorney General about the problems with Mr. Maggio and they said they would contact Mr. Maggio. They told me later Mr. Maggio never responded to the letter they sent. On May 13, 2009 I filed a claim in Small Claims Court in Baton Rouge, LA for the amount I had to pay $2869.60 plus court cost and interest. On June 8, 2009 I was awarded a judgement against Mr. Maggio for the sum of $3,203.81 which I have yet to receive any of that amount. Mr. Maggio told me he has no money and no assets and according to his attorney (which is also a relative) he doesn't. There are several judgements against Mr. Maggio. Please be aware of this if you choose to hire him for work. I do not recommend Maggio Concrete or Mr. Nick Maggio to do any concrete work.
