The house was in terrible shape, with "alligatored" paint and mildew. The other painters from whom I got estimates would not touch the windows and gave me estimates based on my replacing them. Mr. King's estimate was lower than those estimates, and it included caulking every board and reglazing every pane of glass. I cannot say enough about how thorough Mr. King and his crew were in the prep work for the house. I told him more than once that I felt like my house had been done with emery boards and q-tips! They applied a primer and two coats of paint. The body of the house was painted with a sprayer, the trim, doors and windows with a brush. When the first coat of paint was applied, it appeared to be much lighter than the shade I had chosen. Mr. King went to the paint store and had it "brought up" to a darker shade, which I liked very much. He charged me $150 for extra paint and labor (original estimate was $7,500). I have since discovered that I did not get the brand of paint I thought I was getting, and from whose colors I chose my color scheme. I bought some new house numbers and one of Mr. King's crew installed them. He did not install them correctly, and while Mr. King assured me at least twice that he would come back and install them correctly, patch and touch up the holes, that has not happened. The "C" in professionalism has nothing to do with Mr. King's conduct. His crew tended to leave trash, e.g. bottles, wood, etc., around. I have dogs, and while my dogs were in the house whenever the workers had to be in the back I had to check very carefully because the men left things (e.g., glass) that could harm them. Overall, I am very excited and proud of the way my house looks now. Working with Mr. King was a pleasure, and I wish him the best!
Description of Work: Sanded, power washed, and painted a cypress cottage that had not been painted in at least 27 years. They caulked every board and reglazed every window, as well as replacing several broken panes of glass. They also replaced wrought iron columns with wooden columns, which made the house look much nicer.
