BUYER BEWARE I don't recommend this company for any type of service. LATECH passes the cost of doing business on to the customer, has layers of hidden charges, doesn't carry replacement parts to the job site, hires technicians who don't know what to do, and the office support staff is very condescending when attempting to explain why they pass on the cost of doing business. After a week went by with no follow up call, I called the provider. No one was available to take my call and I was told I would be called right back. After several hours, I received a return call. The circuit board shorted out. The replacement was "very very expensive" and I received an initial estimate of over $600. Only after I declined the quote did I receive an invoice. With no advance notice. Upon calling to ask about the excessive bill, I was told it was the cost of doing business. You know insurance, wear and tear on the vehicle, fuel, and so on...you get the idea. The breakdown on the $205 you ask? $95 for service fee, $65 for driving to my house (11 miles each way), and $45 for fuel. It averages about $9.23 per mile and my gate wasn't fixed. If I had repaired the gate, the total cost would have been the estimate + the $205, which would have totaled over $800. Using another company I had the system repaired. Total cost $365! I actually saved money by not using LATECH. The system repair cost and LATECH's service charge combined totaled less than the LATECH quote. BUYER BEWARE!!!
Description of Work: Inspected the mother board for a computerized gate entry system. Suggested the board shorted out due to the discoloration on the back of the board. Removed the board from the unit and took it with him. He said he had no experience with the gate system, did not carry possible replacement boards with him, could not provide an estimate of the cost to repair, did not know if the office had one in stock, and said I would get a call from someone. Prior to leaving I asked what I owed and got no answer. The company did not follow up and two weeks I called them. The original quote to repair the system was over $600. At the time of the only service call, I asked what I owed and the technician couldn't answer the question. After declining to repair the system, I received a $205 invoice for the service call.
