We received and accepted a bid from Mr. Knighten and it was agreed that we would provide materials. We were given a list of additional materials that were needed and these were bought and placed in the house. The drywall had already been delivered and was covered on pallets outside of the home. Mr. Knighten sent a worker over and he began work. Then we received a phone call that he needed more sheetrock. We purchased the amount that he required. Then he wanted to add more to the charges for the extra sheetrock, despite the fact that he had seen the amount of work to be done and had presumably based his quote on this amount. Despite our misgivings we agreed to the additional charge as we thought that maybe we had added to the work to be done. Then in addition, he wanted $150.00 to carry the sheet rock INTO the house. We had already discussed this with the worker who was actually installing the sheetrock and he said that he wanted the sheets outside as he would cut them there and then carry them in to be installed. It was at this point, that we paid Mr. Knighten for the work that had been actually done and told him we didn't need his services anymore. So if you do chose to hire Mr. Knighten, make sure that you keep a signed copy of the bid with you at all times when discussing things with him and keep a tally of all supplies purchased to confirm that they are used on your project. The work that was performed was adequate, but I think that this reflects more on the worker that actually did the installation than on Mr. Knighten. My review is the result mostly due to Mr. Knighten's professionalism and business practices than the quality of work done.
Description of Work: Mr. Knighten was hired to install sheetrock in a garage type building and finish the sheetrock in preparation for painting. The entire square footage was approximately 1200 square feet. This was to finish up the installation of sheetrock that had already been begun, but the original worker was unable to complete the project due to circumstances beyond his control.
