business. He is very dishonest and unprofessional. He lies about
everything. He does not show up when he says he will, he says "i will
finish by the end of the week" and never shows up. He gets your partial
payments and disappears for months at a time. I think he comes back when
he runs out of money and wants your to write him another check. He
never deposits the checks. He goes to our bank and cashes them each
time. Which is odd since it is large amounts of money. The bank called a
few times to get more information about him. I could go on and on with
this review. Just do your research! Ask around in the pool industry, we
have not come across a single person that has anything good to say about
him.
We contracted with this company to build our pool in 2013. We made the mistake of not having our contract reviewed by our attorney before we signed it. We now realize that all contracts should be reviewed with an attorney. The contract requires arbitration if there are any unresolved issues at our costs. This makes it difficult, but not impossible, for the client to be legally represented. Based on our experience, we would NEVER AGAIN sign a contract with an arbitration clause or one that does not give you a completed product within a specified date. We will NEVER AGAIN sign a contract that only states ?completion in a reasonable time?. We will also make sure the payments are spread out relatively equally throughout the building process or you will end up paying your contractor 90% of the costs but only having about 60% completed. We believe we are on the losing end as there is no incentive for contractor to complete your work timely as he has been paid the bulk of the contract.
Our pool construction started the first week of Nov 2013 and we were verbally quoted 6-8 weeks construction time which is the norm for most pool builds in our area. The pool was dug, gunite, tile and coping were all completed by Dec 17, 2013. This process will occur rapidly because the largest payments in your contract are due with this work being completed. At this point we have now paid the bulk of our pool costs for this contractor in how his payments are dictated via his contract. Basically no work was done on our pool for the next 4 months. We contacted him extensively about the progression of our pool via phone, text and email. If we did get a response, we felt we were always given excuses as to why no work was being done. The main excuse was the weather. We tracked the weather for 4 months during that time, and there was 17 days of appreciable rain. Obviously, we believe weather should?ve never been an excuse for 4 months of NO PROGRESSION. Other excuses that were given to us was that he was too busy working on other peoples pools to get to ours. Often our calls, texts or emails were never responded to, or it would take days or weeks to get a response. When we would get a response, they would often not even answer the questions we had asked. When we asked for specific dates, we were not given that and instead would be told ?next week? or ?the next time we are at your house?. When this contractor would tell us he was coming to our home to work or to meet to go over any issues, he would often not show up or even inform us he wasn?t coming. When he would show up, he would often only work 20-30 minutes and then leave.
This contractor also offers drainage services. We pre-paid him for what he recommended and he installed the drainage. When we had to have a professional drainage company do work on our front yard, they saw our back yard and informed us that they believed this was not sufficient drainage for our needs. We paid them to replace our backyard drainage and we are extremely glad they did. The pool contractor had put in perforated corrugated pipe. It is our understanding that this in itself is not wrong; however the pool contractor did not lay the pipe properly or wrap it and we saw this when the pipe he had installed was removed. By not installing the pipe properly, dirt /debris would eventually enter all the perforations and end up filling up our pipe which would then not be functional for drainage.
We felt communication with this contractor was and continues to be terrible. We repeatedly requested our pool equipment be delivered to us which we had already paid for and were told we would get it when he was ready to give it to us. Since we are required by our contract to do the electrical work separately, this prevents us from moving forward with pool progression. We pre-paid for our concrete deck and it took 7 weeks just to have our concrete pool deck completed. Because it was taking so long just to get our concrete deck poured we had requested to get our money back in order to have another contractor do our deck. This company refused to do that so it took 7 weeks just to get concrete. We were extremely disappointed with this length of time because we know that a COMPLETED, FUNCTIONAL pool can be built during this timeframe.
We were told 3 weeks ago contractor would come to remove all concrete form boards and remove trash. This contractor never showed up to complete this work. We had to remove all concrete form boards after waiting 3 weeks in order to lay our sod because we could no longer wait for contractor to do so.
We are now into month 8 of construction and we still do not have a functioning pool. We still need plaster applied and all equipment installed. They continue to avoid committing to a specific plaster date, only saying ?next week?. They continue to refuse to provide equipment until they deem ready. They have not returned repeated phone calls (voice messages) for weeks now. 8 months to build a pool is completely unacceptable in our opinion. At this rate, we are unsure if we will ever have a completed pool with this company. Our home was built in 3 months. We have lived in our home for 4 months and we still do not have a completed pool.
Based on our experience, I have to say we can never recommend this pool contractor to anyone. Doing further research about this company we have found out this contractor has been involved in previous litigation with clients and other businesses and this information is public record and on the EBR Sheriffs website. We wish we had that information prior to signing a contract with this company. We also have met 8-10 other families this contractor has done this to or is currently doing this to. All have the same story. Every contractor will have the occasional good outcome and those are the referrals they will give to you. We found out the hard way that a few good referrals means absolutely nothing. We have voiced our concerns and complaints to this contractor to no avail. Because we feel that this contractor is not concerned in the slightest about our ongoing issues, we have had to file a complaint with the BBB as well as the Louisiana Board of Contractors and the State Attorney General's Office.
So in conclusion, we could NEVER in good conscience recommend this pool contractor?. EVER. We paid for and expected a completed pool in a reasonable amount of time. Unfortunately, the only thing that was done in a timely manner was cashing our checks. It is summer and we still do not have a completed, nor functional pool/hot tub for us or our young children to enjoy. Instead we have a gunite pond filled with filthy water, algae, water bugs, mosquito larvae and trash/debris that has been left in it during construction.
Our ongoing issues with this pool contractor are lack of completion of pool in a timely manner, lack of communication, lack of work ethic/professionalism, lack of providing us with our equipment that we have paid for. Ultimately, we lack a functioning pool.
We are extremely unhappy and disappointed with the work that has been done and question the quality of work that has been completed. We wished we had never contracted with this company to build our pool. If we ever get any progress with our pool completion, I will update this review.
Update 7/5/14...contractor has not stepped foot on our property in 50 DAYS. No further work has been
he was working when the hurricane happen he told me to fill
the pool to keep it heavy but neglected to tell me he had drilled holes in the bottom. so that was a big waste of money. when he finished the cool deck some of it cracked and the color was bad so he painted it with a different color from original color and cut lines where the should be spacers. the inside was bad the first time so i had to empty it again. he did something but the pool still looks different colors. ith is very unprofessional . said i owed him more money so i paid it . but filed a complaint with the bbb. ruined the paint on my driveway with the broken up cement and bobcaT. side gate was broken. could not have him take out the wook deck for fear of more damage i would never recommen this person to do any work.Licensing
