The contractor used by Emerson did not stick around and supervise his crew. They left chunks of mortar and grout in the yard from their clean up. We had some patio furniture at the house under the covered patio and only after they got dirt and water on the cushions did they decide to cover any of it.
We ordered 2 different types of tile ? one with a stone look and another that mimics wood flooring. The stone look tile turned out "okay" except that it was not laid on "thirds" as it was supposed to be. The wood look was horrible. It was supposed to be laid on thirds as well but it was done in the same manner as the stone. It was a completely unprofessional job and I am embarrassed that we accepted it AND paid full price for it.
They did a shoddy job of laying the tile with sharp corners and edges sticking up in many places. The workers told us they scratched some of the tiles and replaced them and told us to be very careful moving furniture on them because they scratch very easily. When the job was complete and we were able to inspect it we could see what a bad job it was. When we called him out on the tiles that were sticking up everywhere he defended it as a good job and said that was just the nature of that type of tile (something no one ever told us or we never would have chosen it). He said they had used every single tile and did not have any left he could use to replace the uneven ones.
We know someone who has this type of tile and they did not have this issue with their floor and in fact recommended the wood-look tile to us before we made the decision to purchase it. However - they did purchase theirs from another company and used a different installer.
It was difficult to get a response from Emerson when we expressed dissatisfaction. We were frustrated and felt that they let the contractor represent their company. By the time the salesman and owner finally came out we had already moved in because we had to be out of our other home. They agreed it was a bad job and sent the contractor out again to fix it. It was just entirely too much to fix especially since we had moved our furniture in by that time. The contractor made a half-a** attempt
at re-laying a few tiles but in the end the job was still shoddy and I don't think he truly changed anything.
Emerson never offered a discount and in fact we were charged extra for ADDITIONAL bags of stuff to level the floor - which made no difference in the tile being level. I still curse the contractor's name every time I stub my toe on one of the tiles sticking up.
I would never use them or recommend them based on the service we received
"We are dismayed to learn that, you feel, your service was less than satisfactory. Shortly after your installation you brought to our attention some issues. We cleaned up the “mess” that was left behind, ordered new product and replaced tiles in the problem areas you pointed out. When these things were done, you expressed that we had rectified all issues to your satisfaction and then paid your balance. We are very disappointed that you would express otherwise through such a negative review."
The Emerson staff assured me they would refinish my damaged wood floors for a "great price" since their installer damaged them so badly something had to be done ASAP. The quote I got was exactly what they had quoted me a month prior to the damage when I was just thinking about refinishing my hardwood floors. Zero discount as they had promised they would give me to "make it right." Although not a discounted price, it was a fair price per square foot and I just wanted the project finished so I agreed. The sales rep, the owner of the store and the refinishing guy they sent to my house all told me the floors could be refinished. They went as far as to tell me I had "exotic, solid plank" hardwood flooring. A few hours into the project they had sanded though the wood veneer and my not so solid, not exotic wood floors were ruined beyond repair.
I was told by the owner of the store I could leave the floors the way they were at no charge, which was absolutely laughable, or I could pull up the existing floors and replace them. I was again promised a discounted price since this was not a project I would have undertaken had they not damaged my hardwood floors in the first place. I decided the floors needed to be replaced and made yet another trip to the store to pick out flooring. The sales rep waved me off when I attempted to talk about my budget for the project and steered me toward one of the most expensive flooring options in the store. I told him I was not interested in spending that much per square foot on the flooring. He again waved me off by assuring me that I wasn't going to pay the sticker price, I'd only be charged their cost. When I got the quote, I was told I was getting the materials at cost and an additional $1000 discount. I realized none of this was true after I asked for an itemized quote. They ended up giving me $0.16/per square foot discount (less than $76 total) discount on the materials and only $100 discount on the labor. I called the store with those numbers and I was told I was mistaken on the figures and assured I was getting the discount I was promised. I told them I was not mistaken, definitely not paying that amount to replace floors they had ruined, forced them to talk about my budget, demanded to be given an actual discount and ended up having to pick out another type of hardwood flooring. Funny how the discount showed up on my calculator when I ran the numbers with the new flooring choice.
The hardwood flooring install was another nightmare. It took twice as long as I was told, I had to help the single installer that arrived on day one move my furniture, none of my cabinets or appliances here covered as I was told to expect, they stapled plastic sheeting into my baseboards and crown moulding damaging them, damaged two interior doors, tracked glue and silicone on my new tile floors and didn't move my furniture back into my house as I was told they would do. They also installed a cracked and badly patched transition piece that had to be replaced. Again, the mess they left was absolutely unreal. The key and the garage clicker I gave the installer (which the installation manager assured me was ok) was also lost. When I called the store to complain, the sales rep asked me if I was joking. It took two days for the installation manager to call me back. The original installer didn't show up the first time he was scheduled to do the repairs so I requested a different installer to be sent. The second installer did a so-so job with the repairs. The new transition piece wasn't glued down correctly so I took matters into my own hands and glued it down myself as I wasn't even remotely interested in having to deal with these people any longer. I was eventually compensated for the lost garage clicker and the cost of getting my locks rekeyed.
I would definitely not use this company again. Not a single installer arrived on time or did the job right the first time. Seems like every single time I called the staff was "in a meeting" and returned my call several hours later. I just don't feel like they are honest business people. The sales rep will tell you everything you want to hear and seems nice as can be but he was a total used car salesman. One month post install, I am still cleaning my wood floors on hands and knees because of the mess the installer made with excess glue and I now have to patch and touch up paint almost every wall and inch of baseboards in my house. I remain a very unhappy customer.

As soon as the carpet came in, they called to set up an installation date (which we set up for 3 days later). We had to move breakable items ourselves, but the basic installation included moving furniture, take-up and haul-away of old carpet, taping area to prevent dust from filling the house, and installation of the carpet. Our install-person was Mark. He showed up within the timeframe we expected him to arrive--was very professional...and got right to work. The whole installation process took about 5 hours.
The finished product was even better than we imagined!!!
We were very happy with the customer service from Emerson Carpet and just as satisfied with the quality of the carpet and install. Would definitely recommend them!!!
