I had a pair of designer chairs that had sheet cane seats and cane backs. These were not antique, but modern chairs. Long ago a child put his foot thru one of the the cane seats. Over the years, I couldn't find any one to repair the seat. I just gave up and put a plywood seat in the chair. Then I got on a mission and was determined to get this chair repaired. I took recommendations; used the internet and made a lot of phone calls. I drove the chair way out of Baton Rouge and tried 2 other craftspeople who repair cane. Neither person could repair this chair because there was little space between the cane seat and the cane back. They could not remove the old broken sheet cane.
I called Denicola's on Government street 225-357-0370 and a nice young lady encouraged me to bring in the chair. The seat was wider than the typical cane, and the owner called me back to say the job could be done. They had to order the extra wide sheet cane, but got the chair done in about 30 days. They emailed me the deposit receipt and updates. Took payment over the phone and emailed the final receipt. And as a bonus, they stained the new cane to match the original cane.
I couldn't be happier with the repaired chair or the excellent service.
