Kitchen and Bathroom Remodel
$50,000
I would like to preface this review is about the EXPERIENCE working with this company, not the finished product. Our project entailed a kitchen "facelift"-painting cabinets, new backsplash, new countertops, new sink and new stove top. We presented our vision for the kitchen to our design team and essentially relied on them to help coordinate and serve as the general contractors in executing the project. I have been around the construction business my entire life and probably would have been better served handling the project myself. The preferred method for communication with our designers was through e-mail. This set the stage for poor communication throughout the project. Requests via e-mail for a phone call would be returned with…an e-mail. There was no consistent feedback or updates given. Unable to speak to the contractors myself I would provide suggestions to the designers about items I felt were being overlooked. I asked multiple times if the appliances should be removed to paint the cabinets-this was never done and we had to have the painters return three times to adequately cut-in the paint around them. Finishing touches such as trim/caulk were left for me to point out. The terminal clean of the project occurred before the project was finished. On the final day per the contract, we returned from vacation and it literally looked like a bad television show-refrigerator pulled out, new hood install not complete, cabinets opened and being painted, hardware not on, one of the designers sweeping the floor (as the terminal cleaners had already been there earlier in the week). During this final day hustle the new hood was broken and it took an additional four weeks for the project to be "complete". I have continually had to chip paint off the appliances, floor, countertops, etc. For the cost of any type of remodel project I would think these details would be attended to. Overall, the experience was far below my expectation and I would suggest getting multiple bids and considering another group to handle your expensive project.

Contract adherence all one sided and very stressful, spent several months trying to settle contract dispute of greater than $10,000. Second rate materials used with premium prices charged. Trim detail/interfaces with existing structures inadequate or poorly done. Cabinet work poor quality with large gaps present. Their subcontractor, JRH Flooring failed to render a truthful accounting of his statements in the contract dispute and refused to repair $2,000 worth of damages he caused. However, plumbing, painting and electrical subcontractors were adequate. Only remedy was hidden undisclosed arbitration contract clause. Very bad, stressful, and expensive experience that will not be repeated.

very slow.  final look is good however the process was painful.  the job was started in February and supposed to be completed in 6 weeks.  job was not completed until end of April.  workers would show up and work for about an hour or two and then nothing was done until the next day.  sometimes it would be a day or two before any work done.  kitchen was not used during this time.  we did not replace the floor or cabinets so the work was only a facelift.  cabinets had to be stripped and painted a second time because they were not prepped and primed properly causing the color to be a yellow-green runny mess.  I selected this company because we work and I wanted a one-stop shop who would design, contract and oversee the job.  we still had to take off work and check on progress (or lack of).  materials used in this job totaled to 8000.00 and the rest was charges for labor.

I called Acadian House because I am doing a kitchen remodel and wanted to get an idea of the cost of installing a Caesarstone countertop I am interested in.  The woman I spoke to on the phone said they could not give me any figure, that a $200 in home consultation was required.  I told her that I just wanted a general idea of the cost to know whether this product was in my budget or not but they could not help me without the in-home consult, even though I offered to provide the dimensions and layout of the area for the needed product.
I should not have to pay $200 for the very rough price estimate I was looking for.  I will take my business elsewhere to someone who has better customer relations.

Response from ACADIAN HOUSE KITCHEN & BATH
"The showroom was closed that day (March 03, 2014) for Mardi Gras holiday. There were 2 designers working that day on their off day to catch up on paper work. The closed sign was up and the door happen to be open. They did not realize someone was in the showroom, when someone saw them, they were explained to we were closed but if they wanted to look around they could. We did have a problem with the new showroom, not hearing or seeing the front door. We have resolved this by locking the front door and asking clients ringing the door bell to enter the showroom. This way we know right away when someone enters the showroom area. We are truly sorry for the misunderstanding."
