Small jobs welcome

I've been painting for several years and learned the trade by working alongside my grandpa on a wide variety of projects. During that time, I've gained experience with everything from simple room repaints to detailed, custom paint work. I specialize in both interior and exterior painting and take pride in delivering clean lines, smooth finishes, and lasting results.\n\nI'm excited to take the next step by offering my services independently while bringing the same quality craftsmanship and attention to detail to every job. I proudly serve homeowners throughout the surrounding area and am happy to travel to nearby communities. I believe in honest communication, showing up when I say I will, and treating every home with the same care and respect as if it were my own. Whether you need a fresh coat of paint or a more intricate project, I'm committed to making sure you're completely satisfied with the finished result.

"We hired Tony Rosekrans to remove our old 12 x 12 deck and to replace it with a 20 x 20 deck. The new deck is absolutely wonderful, one of a kind outdoor living space. The rainy weather was a factor in regards to the time it took from start to finish, but we are more than pleased with the outcome. So . . . we also hired him to construct a fence for us, which, if weather permitting, should be started shortly. We will keep Tony Rosekrans contact information as we have other projects we would like to have done in the future. I really want to thank Service Magic for providing such a helpful service; it has made the whole process so easy."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

The best temperature to paint a pool deck is between 50 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit, because many paints and sealers require temperatures warm enough for the chemical reaction to take place for proper curing. The paint should not be allowed to freeze, and temperatures above 90 degrees can cause the paint to dry too quickly, also preventing the chemical reaction from following through to completion.

Whether to brush or roll stain on wood depends on the project and your preference. Brushing is ideal for smaller, intricate areas and offers more control over the application, ensuring thorough coverage and penetration into the wood's grain.

Conversely, rolling is efficient for more extensive, flat surfaces and can save time. However, it is not always the best fit for textured or uneven wood. Some projects may benefit from combining both methods, using a brush for detail work and a roller for broader areas. Ultimately, the choice between brushing and rolling depends on the specific requirements of your staining project.

If you have a smooth, already bonded concrete surface, painting a concrete pool deck can be a great way to brighten up the area and add longevity. If the surface has another covering or a different type of paint has been used previously, you won’t be able to paint it without removing the existing coating. Wooden decks benefit from painting as it helps to keep them watertight. Quality pool deck paints also help make the surface less slippery and less likely to gather mold and mildew or prematurely crack.

Generally, these steps are included in exterior house painting:

  • Prepping and protecting the areas not being painted

  • Scraping away loose paint

  • Cleaning off dirt, grease, and debris

  • Caulking gaps and openings

  • Priming with a quality paint primer

  • Painting the prepared areas, including trim and accents with chosen paint finish

  • Adding a second coat

  • Cleaning up the site and disposing of tape, plastic, and drop cloths

The opposite is actually true: Wood stains tend to appear lighter when they’re fully dry. However, stains may darken as they weather and oxidize with age. Stains might also darken on surfaces left in direct sunlight, as UV rays can break down pigment particles and cause them to darken over time.
