"Excellent work! Very professional. I had 3 deck areas to clean and stain and the price was very reasonable. The surrounding area was covered before they started staining and worked perfectly. They did patch tests with the stain so I could pick out just what I wanted. I’ll definitely call them for my projects and recommend to everyone."

"We obtained 3 estimates for the pressure washing of our siding from local companies and this organization beat the competitors on several different levels. Their quote came in just below the one above, suggesting value for money before even getting to know the team. Further, we were offered complimentary concrete cleaning around the exterior of the building, which was a big selling point for us. We have many renovations to complete and so any help is always welcome. Secondly, Mr McDonald called to discuss the project in detail, rather than relying on text messages and photographs, as I have found many contractors do these days. He was polite, enthusiastic and knowledgeable and a pleasure to talk to. The work completed by this company was excellent and the building has never looked so clean (having been neglected for several years it was extremely dirty). They were timely and efficient and the results were exceptional. Without question we would hire Mr McDonald again for future renovations and possibly an upcoming tree removal."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Waterproof paint creates a barrier to hold back moisture, but it doesn’t eliminate the source of the water. If you hire a basement waterproofing contractor, many will tell you that waterproof paint is only a temporary solution. On average, you can expect it to last from six months to two years in a wet basement before deteriorating.

It’s necessary for paint to completely dry before exposure to rain, and that drying time varies by the type of paint used. Oil-based paint takes 6 to 8 hours to dry on average, meaning that’s the minimum time needed between the last brush stroke and the first raindrop. Latex paint dries faster at around 1 hour, and acrylic paint is even quicker, usually drying in about 30 minutes. If rain is in the forecast, check the paint manufacturer's details before laying on a new coat.

You don’t necessarily have to remove all the old paint before repainting your deck, but it’s best to remove as much as possible to ensure a smooth and long-lasting finish. Prioritize scraping off loose, peeling, or flaking paint, and sand down rough areas to create a smooth surface for the new paint to bond with.

Aftercare includes routine cleaning, checking for water repellency, and promptly addressing any chips or peels, maintaining the deck's appearance and functionality.

Yes, you can waterproof any wood that has not already been treated. A good way to test this is to splash some water on it. If the water starts to bead up, the wood is treated and most likely doesn’t need another coating.
