I contacted Jim Burkhead to give me an estimate on a small bathroom job. He came out within the week to give me the estimate. From the beginning, I told him that I only had a particular week to do the job and could only meet up at 8 AM to let him in as the property is a rental and out of consideration for the tenants that live there. It is the only bathroom in the house. I asked him and told him this several times. He promised me that he would "make it work" with the time constraints I had. Well, on the day the job was to begin...even after talking the day before, it was like he never heard me. He couldn't understand why he couldn't start the job at 9 am this morning after telling him numerous times that the tenants were not leaving to go out of town until 3:30 today. So he told me to get someone else to do the job because "it would make things easier" for him. Throughout my conversations with him, I always felt like he seemed pre-occupied and scattered. He would text late at night asking the same questions that we had just talked about on a prior conversation. He blamed his "scatterness" on Angie's List saying that Angie's List forces him to take the jobs. He should have never accepted the job in the first place. Now he has put me in a major bind because it is the week my tenants are gone and I have no one doing the job. I even bought all the supplies that Jim told me to get...even though the list was not complete and wrong according to some other contractors I spoke to.

It didn't, had an email asking approx dates for doing the work and received a response that they were over whelmed and would contact when they could do the work and have not heard anything since the 11th of the month.

The offer was for 8 foot or shorter and mine were too long.

I received from an email Angie's List to contact the company. I emailed them and they responded stating they are overwhelmed with responses to the offer and it will be two to three weeks before they can get back. I never heard anything else from them.

I am helping my sister renovate a rental house that the tenants did a lot of damage to the rental house. She was very overwhelmed to say the least. I encouraged her to get several bids before choosing a roofer. We met with Mr. Burkhead and was very impressed with him and his bid. He may not be the cheapest but quality counts in the long run. He gave her a quote that was very reasonable and if wood had to be replaced there would be an increase in price . The crew did have to replace wood on the house. The crew arrived approximately 7am and worked almost till dark . The roof looks great and the crew cleaned up the debree The crew took off two layers of shingles and did the job all in one day. We are very pleased with the outcome and we are using him in the future for other jobs that need to be done to this house to get it back in shape to rent again.

05/09/2014 Person showed up and completed the work today, everything looks fine. I have only had talked with them with emails, I was told that do to the number of request that I would be put on a list for a future date. Given that I would prefer a refund and look for somebody else to do the work. I would be more than happy to response to another review based on either a real conversation or work getting done. I am sure they do fine work are they would not be on this list. Thanks, Troy

He did email me promptly once I purchased the Big Deal. After that, it took a while to get in touch with him. The quoted price was twice the amount of the deal. We also had to have a piece larger than 8 ft.

Burkheads Home Specialists came to my home to advise me of two different home repairs I am hiring them to do and while here, I requested an evaluation of replacing all my low builder-grade, deteriorated windows. I am so impressed with this professionalism, the complete and thorough explanation of the product, pricing and installation procedure and general overall high level of expertise! The company representatives couldn't be more patient and attentive, understanding of my questions and goals. They are more than willing to work with my schedule, they're prompt and flexible as well. I believe the pricing of the replacement windows is extremely reasonable and am ordering my new windows to be installed when the company installs my new exterior vinyl siding. I highly recommend this contractor.

To spray for mold was extremely expensive.

The technician was very good. He gave me an estimate for taking out some mold, but I have received a less expensive estimate form another company.

They seemed to not know the details of the deal. They came out and measured, did not bring samples. I got the quote with almost $2500, far from the quote. I chose not have them do the work and requested refund for the deal. They were however pleasant and profession, they just couldn't give me what I purchased in the deal.

I set up a for the provider to look over the job. He arrived on time and took measurements. He did not have all the nine samples with him. He did not seem to be aware of all the provisions of the big deal offer. He took the measurements and left. I wrote him and told him that I wanted an estimate. He later wrote back and wanted to give me the estimate on the phone. I asked him to send it by e-mail. He sent me an estimate for almost 3 times the big deal offer even though my counter tops are not much larger than the coverage in the offer. The estimate gave no specifics for the increase in charges. I called the provider and told him that his estimate was too high. He asked me to tell Angie's list that he had not received any money. I then called Angie's List and I was told by Miles that I would get a refund.

The two men that came by were very knowledgeable and gave excellent advice for what was causing my mold problem. I learned a ton!

The service went really well. He was very thorough and he checked the places we wanted and looked at other places too in case. He suggested some other services that we possibly need here in the next few years.

It was excellent. While they were under the house doing the inspection he saw that some of the main floor joists had shifted, and also that it was made of wood instead of cement block, which he told me was not code. I contracted with them to replace the two floor joists that were improperly built. He didn't even have to tear up my floor to do the work. After I called them, he was there within two days doing the work. He is also in close contact with his customers at any time. If you call him at any time, the owner answers personally. His crew was there exactly when they said they would be.

Workers were punctual and professional. Answered questions I had once the work was done and made some adjustments. So far, all is well. My phone calls were promptly returned. They did an excellent job cleaning up after tearing off the old and replacing the roof on both the house and garage. I was given a choice of colors and they were able to accommodate my first choice. I would use them again and would recommend them.
