"We are extremely happy with how our new windows and new front door turned out. After some unexpected challenges with the way our home was built, our installation crew quickly and efficiently adapted to make sure our windows and door were installed with expert care. Every time we see our new beautiful picture window we are left breathless! And our beautiful front door is the perfect upgrade for the look of our home. Thank you RBA!"
"Jamil did good work, well priced. Like how he installed mini strips about 12-18 inch tall going across our window as samples, gave us a much better feel as to what the sample would actually look like, others gave us a 4x6 inch in sample to hold up to the window."
"My computer (Windows XP) was running very slow and had become almost inoperable. It was taking a very long time to process anything, especially anything to do with the internet. IE was taking 100% of the cpu most of the time. Jim worked on my computer remotely for several days defragging, cleaning, anti-virus, malware, etc., but could not get it to perform anywhere near where it should. We decided that I needed a new computer. Jim built me a new computer (Windows 7 with racing stripes). The new system works very well and I am pleased with it. When Jim switched my files over from old to new, the Kodak Easy-Share program with my pictures did not get transferred. He has promised to make that transfer when he installs a new door covering the DVD reader which was broken upon setup. I will update this review when this occurs. I am very pleased with the new system and would do it all over again if a similar situation were present. "
"Sales process was good, courteous and helpful. Installation instructions were easy to follow. Did have a small issue with one sensor which was easily solved with a call. Control panel is easy to use and well constructed. Phone app is the best part. Not a big fan of a 2 year contract and the monthly rate feels a little high, but definitely a decent system. I had emailed them a question pertaining installing on double hung windows and never received a reply, but other than that their phone support prior to that was good."
"The claim process was so smooth. We submitted the claim for each service online and we got response Email with the appointment time and mechanic detail. The technicians showed up within the appointment window and did a good job. We are overall happy with the Choice warranty for the price and value."
"The original windows (from 1974) were removed and the replacement windows installed. In the front of the house these were triple paned because I face a highway. In the back of the house I just got double paned. The windows are all double hung. The house is now significantly quieter than it was before. I also know that my heating and cooling bills will be much less. The windows tilt in for cleaning. One of the things I like the best is that the screens are practically invisible. I didn't even realize they were already in and said something about when the screens are installed and was told the screens are already in. Love the views out the windows now -- so clear. I absolutely love the patio door. On the original one the screen did not completely close so I always worried about creepy crawly things coming into the house and the glass door did not lock so I had to use a bar to lock it. This one is so smooth on the track and the screen and the glass door both lock. All of the windows and the door have very tight seals around them. I expected the installers at 8 am and at 8:30am I called the company to make sure they were coming. The install also took longer for them to complete but that was because they had to go and pick up the slider. I was fine with that -- prefer that things be done right not necessarily fast. They pulled into the drive right when I hung up. The installers were as unobtrusive as they could be. They cleaned up after themselves and even vacuumed! A few days after the install the owner (Matt) called to see if everything was working correctly. I told him I wasn't sure if the exterior trim had been completed. He came right over to check. It was done correctly but he agreed to have additional caulking added to the windows that faced the highway. I had been thinking about replacement windows and then it was a BIG DEAL on Angie's list. The price was great for the quality of the window. I was originally going to just have the front windows replaced but when I asked what the additional 2 windows and patio door would cost I couldn't pass it up. Totally professional group of people. Will recommend to family and friends. "
"Over the years we feel like we have gotten value from this service, however, there are constraints on that value. They have replaced dishwashers and air conditioners etc. for us when ours have died. They replace one for one - equal quality for equal quality. We have been allowed to upgrade (by paying the difference) to better replacements and then they have covered those new replacements. All in all, it has worked for us. Here is why they don't get a better rating from us. They obviously negotiate deals with repair/replacement providers which means you are not high priority for these providers which is reflected in their responsiveness to your needs. This past few years, it appears like they are far more reluctant to replace equipment. As an example we have two 18 year old air conditioners that break down at least twice a season. For the past three seasons it seems as if they have practically rebuilt the things vs. just declaring them dead. Each time there is a service call, we pay $75 so it has begun to add up. Today, (Saturday) our hot water heater began delivering rusty water and when we checked it, we saw that it has apparently been leaking for awhile and so is likely close to bursting. In my mind this is an emergency. AHS (who heard the whole story0 called a company which called me right a way but the earliest they could get someone out was Tuesday. This is the absolute maximum time window in our AHS agreement (48 hours - business days). It didn't matter that between now and then we could have 60 gallons of water flood our house. I called AHS and asked for another provider. They first suggested that we shut the water to the house off (really?) but they did contact another, who did not bother to call back (they were open at the time of contact). My husband and I went to Angie's List and called one of the A rated companies. Long story short is they were here within an hour and we will have a new hot water heater today. "

It depends on the insurance company policy, but many companies will offer a discounted rate if you install impact or hurricane windows as they reduce the chance of damage to your home. If you are interested in this perk, make sure to discuss it with your insurance company, as they will likely need your windows to meet certain standards, such as those set by the American Society for Testing and Materials.
If you don't have hurricane shutters or impact-resistant windows, boarding up windows before a hurricane is worth it. According to the Federal Alliance for Safe Homes, protection is essential for all your home's entry points, including windows, doors, skylights, and garage doors.
When windows break, wind enters your home, creating enough pressure that could cause the weakest part of your to rupture. Often, the weakest part is the roof, which can "pop" off of a home in a hurricane. The simple act of boarding up your windows can protect the structural integrity of your house.
Windows can crack for various reasons. Common causes include aging glass, physical impact, and temperature stress. A less common reason is pressure changes, which are far less predictable. Pressure changes often happen because of poor window placement.
Glass block windows typically last for 15 to 30 years, which is slightly less than the 20- to 50-year lifespan of standard windows. You can extend their life by resealing them every few years. Professional installation is also key to ensuring the windows are placed correctly and will function properly for years to come. A professional installer will have the necessary skills, tools, and knowledge to install these features and can identify potential issues like damaged frames or cramped areas during a consultation.
Window washing usually refers to cleaning dirt and other debris off of the exterior of your windows, while window cleaning is a much more involved process that addresses the outside and inside of the glass, as well as the interior components. Window washing is more to improve the aesthetic of your windows, while window cleaning can improve performance, reduce the risk of damage over time, and even improve your home’s energy efficiency.
