Pat Ryan and his assistant arrived on time. He was planning to do only three ceiling fans, but was gracious enough to do the fourth even though it meant pushing back his afternoon appointment. He had to leave in the afternoon for that appointment, but came back in the evening to finish up the same day. This was above and beyond great service. We are very pleased with his work and highly recommend Ryan Electric.
Description of Work: Replaced 3 non-working GFCI's, added an additional outlet in storage room, expanded outlet in den, installed 4 ceiling fans with light kits, grounded main gas line into the house.

Thank you for your kind review and patience in completing the work. It was fun for us to help get your new home ready for you. We especially liked the complexity on some of the work and enjoyed coming up with a reasonable way to make it work. Both you and your husband were a joy to work for and we would look forward to meeting your needs, again, Thank you for your business! Best Regards, Pat Ryan

Things went well. Company was able to fix circuit breaker. I thought the fee was excessive. I've never had to pay a service fee based on the number of people who show up for a job. Labor was based on fee for two people.

We were able to resolve your problem even quicker with two people had just one person been there. It saved a good amount of time from having to run back and forth from the electrical panel as we diagnosed your problem. In addition, both electricians tackled the problem once found and reassembled the circuit upon fixing the problem. Unfortunately, we are unable to ask any one of our electricians to work for free. The final invoice did reflect two electricians resolving your problem and I am sorry you were unaware of the time and savings realized if only one electrician had been there. Best Regards, Pat Ryan

Pat Ryan was knowledgeable, professional and courteous from the first phone call to the completion of the project. This job did not include just replacing an existing fixture. It required running electricity from our basement to the ceiling in the kitchen and installing a new wall switch. He and his assistant did a top quality job. We love our new fixture!

Thank you for your review. I loved your fixture also! I am very pleased we were able to find a way to put it on it's own switch without damage to the ceiling or wall. It needed to stand out by itself with out being part of your existing circuit. I am glad you chose that option and it was worth the extra work. We thank you very much for your business and would look forward to meeting your needs in the future. Best Regards, Pat Ryan

He determined that the outlet was working fine and getting the right amount of electrical current to the garbage disposal, but that the garbage disposal's motor is fried. He was in and out in 10 or 15 minutes, and was very careful to reassure me that he didn't think we caused the disposal to break. He didn't charge me anything for checking the electrical system. He said I'd had enough bad news for the day. Great customer service. I would definitely recommend him.

Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review on a service we didn't charge for. It's reassuring to know when you go the extra mile that clients are appreciative of that. Your right, I did give you bad news about your garbage disposal and it also was bad news for us that we had our travel time and time there free of charge. I considered it fair of us to share the pain. Your review also took time from your busy schedule and was a like act of kindness. I would look forward to meeting your electrical needs when required! A crew of two got the job done in about five hours. They did a good job and you can't tell that the lights weren't always there. I thought the price was high and about $100 over what was quoted. He claimed there was extra work involved and thus the higher price. I will get several quotes in the future and if I select Ryan Electric, I will have a written contract which will include a work statement and price. UPDATE: In my previous report I indicated I thought the price was high. In view of the installation of the two fixtures in the bathroom, which I had forgotten, I would like to change my previous comment to say that the price paid was fair and the reason it was higher than quoted was the additional work required. I also said in my previous report that If i did business with Ryan Electric in the future, I would want a written contract. In view of my error in judging the pricing, I would go with a verbal agreement. Mr. Ryan was also disturbed about the grades given in the previous report. I explained I am a conservative person and probably would never give an excellent rating. However, when I look back I don't see how the job could have been done any better so I changed the grades on this amended report.
Description of Work: Installed six can lights in our living room ceiling. One of the cans was a spot and needed a separate switching leg. The power was already in the ceiling and it was attic above the ceiling. I provided the six can lights fixtures. UPDATE: Spelled out in previous report, however I left out that they also installed two light fixtures in the master bathroom. We provided the fixtures and the power was easily accessible. No switching legs were required. Mr. Ryan called me today To talk about the previous report that I had written and reminded me of the bathroom work which I has forgotten.

Thank you for your review. This work was actually completed on November 19th, 2012. I was concerned about the review because we normally receive A's across the board for we strive to always provide the very best service. We spoke personally on the phone after I read your review. You relayed you were very happy with the service we provided. You had forgotten we also installed 2 vanity lights, provided 5 trims for the recessed cans and also the eyeball trim. In addition, we provided all the light bulbs and installed two switches and switch leg. We had 11 hours labor total plus parts and our actual cost was over $1100.00. I did relay to you that we had problems but the final invoice price did not reflect the problems we encountered. The $100.00 higher estimate was due to the two vanity lights you had us install. You also advised in our conversation you are conservative when you write reviews and again, you were very pleased with the work. I absolutely enjoy clients that have a high standard for we feel we can meet those standards every time. We thank you for your business and would look forward to achieving your excellence if needed again. Thank you for taking the time to discuss your review over the phone and allowing us to ensure we are providing the type of service one should expect. Best Regards, Pat Ryan

Description of Work: Fixed my ceiling fan and put in a speed control on the switch (I purchased a new fan in case it needed to be replaced as we were told by a "handyman"). Took the new fan back to Lowes for refund. He put in two new outlets, changed the location of a light switch. He also provided me the names of two plumbers to install an icemaker.

It has been hard to find electricians willing to tackle rewiring an old house. I got bids from two companies after reaching out to several. They contacted me immediately and Matt came the next day to review the project and give a bid. I chose Ryan Electric because their bid was complete and took into account everything that would be required for the job. The other bid had gaps. They worked the project in quickly, within a couple weeks. They also kept in touch and had great communication skills. They worked on the project for two days. Pat, Matt and Josh were all fantastic. They were professional. It was a huge and difficult job and they did not complain, slam tools about, or even use bad language. They approached the job responsibly, accurately and with a lot of knowledge. It was hot and humid and they worked up in the attic and outside. They showed ingenuity as to how to bring the new wiring upstairs without going outside. They dealt with old plaster walls without causing hardly any chipping. And they cleaned up thoroughly. I am hoping they will work with us and our house again. I can't say enough great things or recommend Ryan Electric more highly.

The work was done very professionally and everything was cleaned up after each day. Matt did our proposal and was on-site for all the work and was patient through all the questions and the inevitable changes and challenges that came up. Matt and the team did a great job reusing the house's original bedroom lighting fixtures, which was perfect since those fixtures are one of a kind. It was a great experience and we'll definitely use Ryan Electric again when we upgrade the first floor and basement.
Description of Work: Replaced our old (from 1923) knob and tube wiring on the 2nd floor with brand new, up to code wiring and all new electrical outlets, switches, and new lighting fixtures were previously we had none. Also installed two outdoor outlets, one in the garden, nicely protected on a post within a metal box and weatherproofed. Also, installed new smoke alarms all over the house.

The project went very well. We are going to have Pat come back and run two cable lines for us. This won't be easy as the cable source is in the basement and the basement is finished. The first day, Pat and his helper were going to be here at nine, but Pat called me at 8:30-8:45 when he realized they were going to be late. They arrived at 9:15. I don't mind if someone is going to be late but I really appreciate a call to let me know. Some of the work required someone to be in the attic, which is always messy, but Pat and Josh did a good job cleaning up before they left. Pat was patient with my questions and explained everything that was going to be done. Both Pat and Josh were very nice as well as polite. I would definitely use Ryan Electrical again!!
Description of Work: He added 3 can ceiling lights in the living room, 1 in the kitchen and 3 in the study. Added two dedicated circuits in the unfinished basement. Removed two ceiling fans and one chandelier and installed three new chandeliers. He also rewired one switch and moved a bathroom fan/light switch to the opposite wall. He also ran power outlets to the living room cabinet.

I was having weird electrical problems in my house. I called Ryan Electric and left a message on their service. I received a call back within the hour, which I considered good since it was a Saturday. I advised Ryan of the problem with the electricity going on and off to parts of my house and others parts were fine. He advised it was probably an issue with the line coming in and I should call the electric company and have them check. This would save me the money he would have to charge if he checked. He was correct. The electric company found where the line was cut by someone digging which caused the sporadic power issues. Ryan's professional attitude saved us money and time.

Pat is a wonderful person to work with. After contacting Ryan Electric, Pat came to our home and not only gave the estimates we requested for the work, but also gave us multiple options based on his experience which was extremely beneficial. Pat responded that day with written estimates for the jobs. Pat showed up exactly when he said he would to do the job and contacted me if anything would change. To show how well he runs his business, the only thing that changed was a phone call saying he could be early if that worked with my schedule. Pat was extremely friend and professional. HIs work was impeccable and he left the work area cleaner than he found it. I will definitely use Pat for future electrical needs. If you are in need of electrical work, you won't be disappointed in the timeliness, professionalism and work that is provided by Pat and Ryan Electric.

We were re-modeling the first floor of our home and were removing several walls. During the estimate, Pat Ryan, spent considerable time studying our layout and helped us find a way to move a complex wall switch in a way the minimized our expense. Pat was very straight forward during the estimate process, explaining that some costs would depend on what he and his co-worker found when they started re-doing the house's existing wiring. We planned to break the work into two visits ... most of the work was accomplished during one day (Pat and a co-worker), the finish work was completed after the new cabinets had been installed. At the last minute, we asked Pat to re-do some wiring to accommodate a new micro-hood. To accommodate this request, he had to come back a third time. Pat was very punctual and arrived as scheduled. He was very respectful of our home and took care with our new hardwood flooring and cabinets. Our final bill was somewhat higher than the original estimate, but that was because we added work.
Description of Work: Installed several new wall outlets, including a "tight fit" in a new kitchen island and one ceiling fixture. Moved two wall outlets and one wall switch. Re-wired two improperly wired 3 way switches. Re-located a complex wall box with multiple light switches. Also re-configured wiring above stove to allow us to switch form a range hood to a microwave-fan unit.

After moving into our home about a year ago, we had built-up a list of small electrical projects that we need to accomplish. Ryan Electric was our second estimate and we were blown away by their kindness, the knowledge they showed in describing our options and their reasonable price (beat competitors by far). Pat and Matt came out about a week later and completed the job in just about 4 or 5 hours time. They made an effort to be quick and clean in their work. Everything works beautifully and we couldn't be happier. I would definitely recommend Ryan Electric if you are on a budget. When they gave us our estimate, they stressed that we could pick and choose our projects based on the cost and that they would work with us if we needed to alter their plans do to cost. As it turned out they were reasonable enough that we added a project (having an outlet grounded). They came in right at their estimate - maybe even a few dollars under.
Description of Work: Installed a box and switchplate for a ceiling fan and the fan itself Installed an outdoor power outlet Installed a doorbell Added two additional power outlets- one on a separate circuit to accommodate a space heater Grounded an outlet for electronics Removed two outlets off of a light switch

Company kept us informed and was punctual. Removed existing braker box and installed a new one. Price was fair and Estimate was adhered to and
Description of Work: repaired breaker on a very old breaker panel. The breaker had fused itself to the buss bar and they had to chase down a switch that no one knew about. They came when they said and kept me informed the entire time. I knew this panel was old And it was needing to be changed out. They provided me a cost and stuck the price and also included a light for the crawl space. the latter I was not charged for. They are fair and professional would recommend to my family.

I was having electrical issues in the bathroom. It was sparking and I was concerned that it might start a fire. Called on a Sunday, I was sick. He came right out and had already picked up the supplies. He did not charge me full price for the service. When he was done I offered him a tip, he declined and said this is for all the teachers in the world. He did that for me after I had told him I was a teacher. He is the sweetest man, I would definatly recommend him to anyone and I will use him again in the future.
Description of Work: Had a outlet replaced in the bathroom.

We called Ryan Electric based upon Angie list ratings in the electrical services section. Our voice message was responded to promptly and a service call was scheduled. The serviceman contacted us ahead of schedule to indicate that he could arrive earlier than scheduled if we were available. We appreciated his communication and early arrival. Matt, the serviceman, checked the electrical service box and circuit breakers. He then checked the outlet in the outage area. This outlet was used for an electric heater. He worked with the wires while they were "live". He initially found that the ground was "open", but he generated some sparks and changed some of the wiring in the outlet. He did not replace the outlet, but the circuit was restored. Matt prepared and presented an invoice for the service call. We paid the invoice via check. In retrospect, we would have appreciated a more detailed explanation and a replacement of the electrical outlet that caused the outage. Ryan Electric did provide responsive service in our time of need!
