Vinegar and baking soda work well at lifting old stains from carpet.

  • Pour a generous layer of dry baking soda over the old stain.

  • In a spray bottle, combine distilled white vinegar with 1 cup of warm water. Add a few drops of liquid dish soap.

  • Spray the baking soda area thoroughly with the vinegar solution.

  • Let the vinegar and baking soda sit for a few hours.

If your bedroom carpet has serious stains or wear patterns, it may take longer to treat it. An experienced carpet cleaner will likely move faster through this task than if you DIY it with a rented carpet cleaner.

To prepare for mattress cleaning, clear the area around the mattress or move it to a different area so you or your hired specialist has ample space to clean thoroughly. This may involve moving furniture and any fragile décor items. Remove all bedding from the mattress. If possible, schedule your cleaning on a sunny day with low humidity to help speed up the drying process.
