+ -1 moreHe came out to the house, got right to work, checked panel lugs and breaker screws for looseness. He also checked the panel to see if there was any sign of heat which would indicate that some circuits were overloaded. He told us it was all just fine and that we had nothing to worry bout.
Description of Work: He did a safety check on our electrical panel, made sure that there were no frayed wires, and tightened up anything which was loose. He removed a couple of unused wires from their circuit breaker and told us that we did not need to replace anything and that it was all safe and to code.

He is dedicated to the highest quality of customer service while providing value and competitive pricing as is Gregg, the field tech on this repair. We have worked w Gregg on other similar projects in our complex and have asked for him as a tech whenever possible. Gregg arrived on time, he had all the parts and tools needed for the job, stayed on the job in hot humid weather even after offers to rest, and most importantly to me he is flexible in working with customers, their ideas, and in finding customer agreeable solutions to unexpected problems. We expect to continue having Ashpaugh Electric as our primary electrical contractor.
Description of Work: Problem: remove faulty in-ground power wiring running from house, thru ground ivy, under sidewalk, and then to front lamp post head. Solution: Home owner preped clay soil w 4 days(12hrs) of focused watering, which allowed easy penetration of shovel to loosen and remove old wire from clay soil and allow new "V" trench to be dug for installation of new armored cable and conduit jacket. Greg from Ashpaugh Electric arrived on time and we reviewed the project. Gregg disconnected the old wire at the house and began peeling it from the ground. The fault in the wire was soon revealed as an out of sight cut at the back of the outer jacket and inner common white wire caused by landscapers powered hedge trimmers from a few days before. A "V" trench was made along the path of the old wire up to the sidewalk, then on the other side of the walk to the lamp post. Two 18" holes were dug on each side of the sidewalk to allow a conduit to be a ram hammered under the side walk. A new armored cable was laid in the trenches, under the sidewalk, under and thru the ground ivy to the house, about 25 feet total. Because of future need to trim the ivy and edge turf, especially near the house junction box, Gregg was agreeable to put an additional armor conduit and junction boxes over the new armored wiring in the ivy, at the wall connection, and at the turf-garden edging to help make the new installation more accident proof. A new photocell was installed, lamp post head connected, and proper functioning checked. Finally, Gregg closed the "V" trench and sodded the holes next to the sidewalk. There will be very little turf scaring and a fast recovery.

+ 0 moreBrad, the electrician from Ashpaugh, came out initially to examine the work that we wanted them to do. He gave me a very detailed "shopping list" of supplies that he would need to complete each of the jobs and an estimated cost and time for the work. I purchased the items at a nearby electrical supply store. He gave me a choice of doing the leg work myself or having them supply the materials. We saved money by doing that ourselves, as he suggested we might. I appreciated that. He then immediately set a date for the work to be done. I requested that he do the work. Brad arrived at 8:00 am (the exact time we had scheduled) and left at 1:20. I stayed during that time because there were decisions to be made. His work was neat and well-done. Everything worked as hoped and looked great! I was especially excited about the new lamp he installed.The electrician was clean, tidy, friendly and very professional. He had shoe covers on the entire time and had a little portable vacuum at his side! I would definitely call them again.
Description of Work: Ashbaugh changed 4 regular switches to dimmer switches, installed a wall plug for art that sits behind the painting, and converted a ceiling can to a hanging decorative lamp in a back entry hallway.

He was neat, clean, polite and thorough. Couldn't ask for much more than that and the problem was far less trouble than I expected. One more happy customer.

+ -1 moreShane showed up in the morning. Very polite and professional. I explained to him that lightning hit my next door neighbors home and caused damage to my home as well. Blew out my garage door opener, washer, microwave, modem, phone and all my light bulbs. I wanted reassurance that nothing was wrong with my electrical system and is the reason I called them out. He inspected all and advised that I had a GFI blown in my master bath and another outlet not working in spare bath because of this. Advised that he was pretty sure replacing the GFI would fix the spare bath issue as well. He advised the cost and made the replacement. He said all worked fine now. I would have never known this problem existed had I not called them out to inspect. I'm so glad now that I had them come out. Prior to hiring Ashpaugh Electric, I spoke with Brian. He was so very nice and explained so much to me about what lightning can do to a home. He was not pushy at all, explained to me what they will do when they come out and patiently waited for me to call back. I explained that I wanted to discuss with my Claims Adjuster first. He understood and agreed. He was so very nice and I appreciated his knowledge. Thanks, Brian and Shane! I appreciate your quality customer service.

+ 0 moreAutomated pool cover motor (2 years old) wouldn't work at start of season. Since motor fairly new, I called electrician to evaluate for wiring issue. He came out and inspected system and said the wiring was fine and the problem was the motor. I called pool cover company. He touched 2 low voltage wires together and the motor started and retracted the cover. Showed me where an animal had chewed on a wire. I called back Ashpaugh and they sent the same electrician out. He looked at it and stated that he didnt think about the low voltage wiring. He had just inspected the high voltage side. He rewired the chewed wiring and the motor worked fine. I called Ashpaugh and spoke with a woman there. I explained the situation and asked if something could be taken off (like the $40 travel charge with each trip). She stated she didn't handle that but would have the owner call me. Never heard from him. I found the fact that he it took 2 trips and an intermediate trip by the pool cover service company very excessive. The electrician was not at all thorough in his assessment. This turned out to be a very basic wiring issue. Even if he didn't take anything off, I would have found it professional to call me and discuss it. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Since my review ,I was able to speak with the owner. I appreciated talking with him and we came to an agreement on the issue. Again, it helps alot to be able to speak with owner and discuss the issue. After our talk, I will use them again.

I agreed on the price and he got to work. Another guy showed up to help install the fan. Wes showed me the completed work and explained what he did. Wes cleaned up the tarp he put down to protect the area he was working in. The fan is quiet and works well so we are happy!

We asked him to also look into a couple of other problems and give us estimates on it. We were told by someone else that we needed to have both of our electrical panels replaced. We asked him to check that. He looked at it and said that it need not be replaced. It would have cost us $2000 or $3000. He was very professional. I felt he was very honest with us. He fixed our problem.
