"This is an owner team, and it shows in their ability and dedication. I needed cleaning of ducting for a bathroom exhaust fan and the dryer. Both turned out to be more difficult one could anticipate. The exhaust duct of the fan turned out to be filled with a nest of birds that came in through a broken vent cover. The work on the dryer duct uncovered poorly installed dryer exhaust hose. For both of them the technicians spent the extra time to find solutions, including a trip to a hardware store to get some parts to fix the issues. They also provided a lot of advice. Nice people, very courteous, pleasant to deal with."

"Great, friendly service. Arrived right on time. Explained the job. Took great care to protect the wood floor and walls from getting any marks. Did an excellent job cleaning the upholstery. This is one of the rare times that a service left my house and I was completely satisfied by the whole experience, especially the respect for my house. Thank you."

Cleaning questions, answered by experts

The cost of move-out cleaning averages $360 and can increase to $500, depending on the extent of the cleaning involved. The cost factors that vary move-out cleaning include home or apartment size, the level of cleaning, how many professionals it takes to clean, and the location. Add-ons include cleaning carpet, windows, fridge, oven, hardwood floors, tile and grout, garage, and junk removal.

If you’re hiring someone to clean an empty and tidy house before you move in, there’s little prep work to do. Make sure to discuss your goals with the cleaning service, arrange entry to the house, and communicate any problem areas or special requests. If you’ve already moved into the house, or if it’s messy, it’s best to complete the following tasks before the cleaners arrive:

  • Declutter things like clothes, toys, or cardboard boxes

  • Do the dishes

  • Put fragile items in a safe spot where they can’t be accidentally broken

  • Keep pets away from cleaning areas

To clean a trash can with maggots, combine chlorine bleach and hot water in a 1-to-1 ratio and pour about half a gallon of the solution into the bottom of your garbage can. Just make sure there aren’t holes in the can before doing so. Close the lid, and let the fumes go to work to kill the maggots. Rinse the can with a hose outside. Consider finishing up with a bleach disinfectant and a scrub brush before letting the can dry completely. You can also consider hiring an exterminator near you for a quick, easy solution to maggots in your garbage cans.

The main difference between a general cleaning and a deep clean is that a general cleaning focuses on regular maintenance, while a deep clean hones in on the nitty gritty details of cleaning that may not impact your day-to-day life. For example, it’s important to wipe down your counter and have a clean place to cook regularly, but you may not think twice about pulling out your stove to clean behind it until it’s time for a deep cleaning.

The best thing to clean bathrooms with is an all-purpose cleaner, a mixture of white vinegar and water (50:50 ratio), and a glass cleaner for mirrors and glass surfaces. You can also use baking soda on areas with soap residue or mildew. The best tool to clean a bathroom depends on the specific task, but a sponge and a fresh towel are versatile options.
