"We had Everdry come out in 2003 to waterproof the basement. The work was well done, professional and has saved the foundation of the house. We haven't had any water in the basement since. The warranty is transferrable and that is a plus if we ever sell the house. CLR, Portage, IN"

"We had a challenging project with water removal and structural support issues. Our crew of Tim (Foreman), Marq, Jayshawn, and Devon worked diligently to install a new drainage system and support beam for the house, spending late nights to get the job done. Thanks to (Manager) Cornell for his assistance on this complex project. Matt E"

At PG Plumbing we have a simple yet powerful reason for starting our plumbing company: to bring a breath of fresh air to the plumbing industry in Fort Wayne and Allen County.\n\nWith the rise of large corporate plumbing conglomerates, we noticed the disappearance of the small, locally-owned plumbing businesses that once thrived in our community. This inspired us to step in and make a difference.\n\nOur mission is clear: we are here to provide our customers with cost-effective, personal experiences rather than prioritizing profit margins. We understand the frustration that often comes with plumbing issues, and our goal is to alleviate that stress with a service you can trust.\n\nWe invite you to choose PG Plumbing a local, employee-owned, reliable, and trustworthy team, for all your plumbing needs. "Albert was great! Besides drywall, he also does concrete, tile and painting! So I had him finish my drywall, paint it, and fix broken tiles in the bathroom. I also had him repair drywall cracks in my finished garage. He knows what he’s doing, and I will use him again!"

Foundation Drain Installation questions, answered by experts

Sump pumps prevent basement flooding, reduce humidity, and protect against water damage.

Almost any kind of home can have a wine cellar or cabinet installed. You’ll need an area where a concrete floor can be put in, along with the necessary insulation, climate control, and ventilation systems. If you think of yourself as an aspiring sommelier, an underground wine cellar may be ideal, but it will cost significantly more.

What you choose to install really depends on your budget and how many bottles you’re looking to store.

No, homeowners insurance policies do not typically cover sump pump installation. However, some companies may offer incentives in the form of discounts or reduced premiums if homeowners install sump pumps. Insurance companies do this because sump pumps can reduce water damage claims. You may also be able to obtain enhanced water-backup coverage after installing a sump pump.

A sump pump's lifespan is typically 7 to 10 years, though the general range can be anywhere from 5 to 15 years. The specific type of pump is a major factor: pedestal sump pumps last an average of 20 to 25 years, whereas submersible sump pumps last between 5 and 15 years. While pedestal pumps are less expensive to service, they are also louder and more prone to clogging.

Several other factors influence longevity, including the pump's quality, usage frequency, and maintenance schedule. A high-quality pump that is well-maintained in a dry climate may last for two decades, while a lower-quality, poorly maintained pump in an area with a high water table or frequent flooding may fail in six years or less.

Regular maintenance, including annual inspections and tuneups from a professional, can significantly extend the pump's life. It is time to consider a replacement if your sump pump runs constantly, cycles frequently, shows visible rust or corrosion, or trips a circuit breaker. As a preventative measure, many homeowners replace their pumps every eight years. It's also worth noting that a manufacturer's warranty can indicate expected lifespan, and some home insurance policies may not cover water damage from a pump that is past its recommended replacement date.

Some sump pumps are powered by water rather than electricity. Water-powered sump pumps generally use one gallon of city water to pump out two gallons of water from its basin. Therefore, if you're looking at a potential 10,000-gallon flood, your sump pump will need to use 5,000 gallons of city water to prevent it.
