The service from Matt was excellent. He stayed in contact with us the entire time as the ring was being designed and created. He gave me updates regularly by text. Can't say enough about this guy... he's a real pro.
For the most part, the service you get from the entire staff at Distinctive is very good. They greet you with refreshments immediately and are extremely friendly.
We had one unsettling experience however. We were in the shop several times over the course of eight weeks, of which we had no choice because of the complexity of the ring. We showed up one morning as they opened at 10am and several employees looked very put off by that. Not sure if customers don't usually come in that early or not, but the vibe we got that day was not friendly at all. Glaring looks of disgust from a few people and that's awkward when they outnumber you 15 to 2. Looked like a morning meeting took place on the floor after the doors had opened, and maybe we disrupted that balance? My advice going forward would be to have the meeting pre-doors being opened and concentrate on customers when the doors open at 10am. If I was a new customer I would have walked out and never returned.
My C's above for Professionalism, Responsiveness, and Punctuality are from the bad vibe we received for this experience, so this will alert you to fix that issue going forward.
Regardless, I overlook that as the ring is beautiful, the price seems fair and Matt was excellent to deal with.
I own a sizable company and I make mistakes daily. I learn from them and try to correct issues so going forward we can be a better provider. Every company has their misses and I get it. Had we not had that experience though it would be As from top to bottom, and Matt absolutely deserves As from top to bottom.
Let me be clear in my review, I recommend Distinctive Diamonds. I will return as a repeat customer in future years and you should try them on for size as well!

I went in to Distinctive with my wedding ring that was 13 years old. I spoke with Kristen with hopes of taking my diamonds out of my ring and designing a new one. She was awesome! We looked around the store and I told her what I liked and what I was looking for. We found a style that I liked within 5 minutes. Kristen gave me all different ideas and even colored some diamonds on the ring with a sharpie so I could visualize what it looked like with birthstones, just to give me another idea or choice.
She emailed me with-in 2 days with pricing and actual pictures (CAD) of what the ring would look like with my diamonds in it. When I placed the order, she told me it would take 6 weeks to finish, it only took 4 1/2. She had quoted me a price and when the work was done, it was actually lower than she estimated.
I really had a great experience with DD and especially Kristen. I would recommend them to anyone.

We were not charged for the new setting, which, was what we should have been sold in the first place. 4 prongs are better than 3 and I believe that the jewelers at Distinctive Diamonds were negligent in not recommending and using the 4 prong setting so none of these incidents would have happened. What we were charged for was replacing the missing diamond! Please understand; this is not about money but about shoddy workmanship and indifference to a customers request for a reasonable settlement to a situation that was NOT their fault.
Also, please note…I continue to not work with heavy machinery or any substance that might damage my jewelry. I have taken to not wearing my engagement ring for fear that the craftsmanship to repair it 3 times is still not going to be enough to ensure that it will stay in one piece.
