"Excellent, very hard working, They were very focussed on finding out exactly what I wanted done and providing that! They asked questions, made suggestions, and assured me I would be pleased with the outcome. I am very happy with the work they did! This was a very large project, a clean up of a large area so overgrown it was impossible to walk through in some places. They cleared it beautifully. I also needed a heavy growth of ivy removed from an exterior brick wall, which they accomplished . I would highly recommend this company for landscaping needs"

"This company and Dell Phillips came highly recommended by someone we trust. They were able to bring our crawl space back to a very healthy condition. Dell was in constant communication with us every step in the process with updates that included photos and videos. The work was done carefully and cleanly by the crew who were courteous, respectful and timely. The old saying you get what you pay for can be applied to our experience with Hitman Solutions as we are left at the end of it all feeling very confident we made the right choice in this company and its employees."

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

The best type of rock for landscaping depends on your specific project and needs, as different rocks are suited for different applications. For covering large areas or creating an affordable driveway, consider gravel, but note that it can wash away in flowing water. For water features, river rocks are a good option. Flagstone and cobblestone are ideal for aesthetically pleasing patios and walkways. If you are building a stone wall, fieldstone or small boulders are up to the task. Large boulders and landscape rocks work well as statement pieces, to fill empty space, or to indicate boundaries, but be mindful that they can overwhelm smaller gardens. The best approach is to first define your landscaping project and then select the rock type that best fits that purpose.

As long as you’re building a greenhouse, consider the overall look of your backyard. Could it benefit from stone walkways or grading? As long as you’re hiring a hardscaping pro to lay the foundation for a greenhouse, you could tackle those other projects to give your whole yard a glow-up at the same time.

Hedge plants are available in almost every size, from seedlings to fully mature, six-foot-tall shrubs. Planting smaller plants is much easier and more cost-effective. However, it can take years for the plants to reach maturity and create a full hedge. Garden centers and specialty retailers sometimes offer three to four-foot wide plants that you can simply plant next to each other for an instant full hedge.

In most cases, buying plants from a local greenhouse or nursery is well worth the investment, even though they tend to be a bit more expensive than those at a home improvement store. Employees at nurseries are usually well-versed in gardening and understand how the climate in your area affects different plants. They can help you make selections based on your skill level and time commitment to your landscaping, and they can provide detailed care instructions and advice to help keep your plants alive and diagnose and treat issues like pest infestation and illness.

You should exercise care when deciding how to landscape over a leach field for your septic system. You typically want lightweight materials that won’t damage the drain field’s perforated pipes. When adding plants to the area, select plants with shallow roots, such as grass or flower gardens. Trees with deep roots could damage the pipes in the field.
