Mike came at the arranged time. He looked over my project and gave me several options on how he could go about completing the project. He gave me a cost estimate later the same day and gave me options on when he could complete the job. Mike and his employee did the work. They showed up right on time. Mike takes pride in the quality of his work. I felt he treated the project the same as if it were his own home.
Description of Work: Hughes Electrical wired my basement for electricity.

+ -1 moreFantastic! The exterminator killed the bees and removed the nest, and Mike Hughes reconected the electrical power to my house.
Description of Work: I had a large (yellow jacket) bees' nest inside the wall of my house behind the electric meter box. Bees were getting into my house. I called Duke Energy to have them remove the electric meter so the exterminator could spray the bees. When he arrived, he said he could remove the meter but not the box the meter was mounted in because the box is my property. He and I agreed that I was going to have to hire an electrician. The exterminator was scheduled to arrive in about one hour. I thought, "Where am I going to find an electrician in the next hour and have him disconnect the wiring to the box and remove it?" I thought of only one electrician that I might have a chance of getting so quickly because this electrician had gone above and beyond the call of duty once before for me. Sure enough. I called Mike Hughes, and he rescheduled his morning work so he could come right over to my house and remove the box. What an outstanding electrician! He was concerned about the bees stinging him, but the exterminator loaned him his bee had and I had a bug suit for him to use. He removed the heavy wiring from six places and some other wires. Then he pulled the box from the wall. What a sight! It was a huge nest with over eight layers of the bees' nest. What other electrician would drop everything and come to a customer's house immediately -- and put himself in danger of being stung to get the job done. To top it all off, he goes out to his truck and brings back clear caulk to seal the box against the brick wall so bees will never be able to get behind the box again. Caulking isn't an electrician's responsibility, but this is the kind of exceptional customer service Mike Hughes delivers. This took over an hour, and all he charged me was $150. I will never use any other electrician but Mike Hughes. I give Mike Hughes my very highest rating for any service provider. He will exceed your expectations every time.

Mike is a dependable, good guy. I recently moved to Indianapolis and had no one to rely on for my electrical needs. Mike was highly recommended and now, I know why. Thanks for everything Mike. He came and was extremely reasonable in price, very helpful, and just an extraordinarily positive experience. I have scheduled him for other electrical jobs in our home next Tuesday. I could not recommend him more highly!
Description of Work: We had had a leak from the bathroom above the chandelier in our kitchen. I wanted them to check everything out and make sure it was safe. He also added three ceiling lights in our house. He was on time and cleaned up. He was highly professional with a great price. He was great to work with.

Description of Work: We have hired Hughes Electric for several electrical jobs at home. We have used them since 2007. Some of the worked performed has been installing new circuits for large outdoor waterfall & additional yard lighting, wiring and circuits for room additions, installing ceiling fans, new light fixtures, adding more porch lighting, wiring for for outdoor speakers, wiring and installing garage heater and many more jobs :-) Mike Hughes of Hughes electric does excellent thorough work and we highly recommend his services. The price for service was for multiple services performed.

He showed up when promised and worked around my schedule to finish the job in a timely manner. He was also very accommodating when we asked him to change and/or add items during the job. Mike also followed up after the job was completed to ensure that everything was satisfactory.
Description of Work: Updated electrical breaker box (from fuse to breakers), added new electrical service to garage, added electrical outlets in rooms, split up electrical circuits in some rooms, and combined electrical circuits in other areas.
