During installation the workers cut out the cook top opening on site. In cutting out the opening, they cut through a metal reinforcement bar under the cabinet. We pointed out the bracket both before and during the procedure (several times) but were told not to worry. As a consequence or coincidence the granite developed a crack which we noticed less than one week after installation. We also realized that no steps were taken to protect the interior of the cabinet during the cutout procedure thus allowing the granite dust to gather in the sliding rails of the new cabinet drawers. After several attempts to clean and lubricate them we were advised to replace them. Additionally, the installers used our BRAND NEW, NEVER USED rangehood as a vacuum while cutting out the cook top opening. These vents are not built for debris only fumes. We had to remove the hood, replace the filters and clean the interior of the fan (which was caked with granite residue) We have made several attempts to contact Fortune Estates both by email (twice, sending pictures at their request) with no response and by phone. We are told they will get back to us at a promised time but as of this writing every promised time has passed with no contact. We paid the balance due on the counter top on the day of installation. This company advertises a "lifetime warranty" which they never honored. This company now has an unsatisfactory rating with the Better Business Bureau.
