It went great. The build took longer than anticipated, BUT that was due to factors outside of the garage build activity provided by CGB. The salesperson, Bob Schuckles, was great. He was prompt, thorough, and very helpful throughout the whole entire process from start to finish. I highly recommend this company and especially Bob. The demolition crew was prompt and careful of all surrounding structures through the whole process. The cement/concrete crew worked their tail off and did a wonderful job, including a last minute patio that was added to the project. When unexpected inclement weather hit, they quickly tented the garage slab and continued finishing the pour. The garage builders themselves were fantastic. These guys know what they are doing. I work in the contracting business in the energy industry and appreciated their purposeful and methodical approach. No slip-shod, no short-cuts. The final build was as expected, and then some. The final step was the electricians, who came in and completed the run from the house to the garage in one day. Wow. Overall, I cannot recommend Bob Schuckles and Chicagoland Garage Builders more. They are great. Let me also through a compliment to the Ladies back in the office (Elizabeth and Sandra) who were involved in the permitting and planning side. They were as prompt and thorough and helpful as Bob. Great outfit here.

Very pleasant experience overall. My village can be difficult to deal with and they took all of those concerns off of my plate and all while being very cost competitive. You can expect the hard sell from all these types of vendors and just go with whoever you feel most comfortable. For me, I had a list of priorities and pain points with the project and they handled and managed those concerns the best. The biggest positive standout was once all the permits were in place the whole process was quick. Also, they were very clean (extremely). When demo and any build was done there were very few remnants of the large crew that was there.

Everything went smoothly, from the beginning with the sales rep to the completion of the garage. Everybody was punctual and responsive to our needs.  The salesman was excellent.  He came to my home last fall and we talked about garages for 2 hours.  I signed a contract there and picked out my siding colors and gave him my deposit. They are very honest and upfront.  I would totally recommend them to another homeowner. We are so excited to have a beautiful garage!!! Thank you so much!!!

I am pleased with my driveway and garage. Work took a little longer that I was told it would. Concrete guys were wonderful, city gave them a hard time but I corrected that. Everyone was polite and professional. I am glad that I chose them.

I was not going to provide a review at all because the company did try to correct one of the larges issues that I had with this project but in the end they seem to have failed to do so.  First let me say that they sold themselves as a longtime concrete contractor that started building garages several years ago.  Interestingly the carpentry of the garage has proven to be far superior to their concrete work.  The first issue that I had was they told me that after they were done they would clean up and grade out the dirt around the concrete work that they did.  The cleaned up their debris but left a 3 foot high pile of dirt in my yard.  I had to pay a landscaper to come correct this.  Next there are 2 low spots in the concrete in the garage.  I brought this to the owners attention and he said that because of the pitch there would always be some low spots.  I figured it's a garage so no big deal.  Until the snow that fell off of my car melted and I had a 3 foot square patch of ice in the corner of the garage.  Then only 4-5 months after construction the concrete on 2 separate aprons began flaking.  I also learned when the snow melted that it puddled against the garage on the new sidewalk.  I checked with a level and it was pitched towards the garage.  Here is where they made an effort to correct the problem.  They came out and removed both aprons and the sidewalk and re-poured both at no cost to me.  Unfortunately it rained the day that they poured the concrete and they dod not cover any of it.  On the sidewalk water dripping off of the roof of the garage pitted the newly poured sidewalk.  At this point I just threw my arms up and said to myself that I would not recommend them to anyone nor ever use them again myself.  I still did not think about writing a review.  Then the other night I noticed that the new apron that they poured less than a year ago on the alley side of the garage now has 2 large cracks in it and I had to publish this information.  
My advice for anyone thinking about using these guys is to have someone else pour the concrete regardless of all of the sales pitches that they make about how their concrete is better than everyone else.  If you can just use their carpenters then go for it.  They were prompt, cleaned up after themselves and their workmanship is top notch.  I was worried that a concrete company that started building garages might not build a quality structure and never had a worry about the concrete.  Turns out their claim to fame is not what they are best at.  
I have not tried to contact them again to have them look at this because it was not easy to get them to come out and repair the concrete the 1st time and it has been nearly 2 years since the garage was built so I would think that they will not stand behind this work that long.

Everything went according to schedule they were professional, fast and very efficient. Our sales representative Bob was there from the time we signed the contract to the finish of the project and he was accessible when we had any concerns or questions. I would definitely recommend them and refer them to any friend or family.

I met with Gary Owen. He provided me with a quote of the work; walked me through the steps, worked with the city for my permit and approvals. The team was professional, easy to work with and completed the job in timely manner. I received a number of compliments from neighbors.
My driveway and walkway looked great. They did the job in just a few days. Really helped me with the process and recommended a company for a new garage door.
I felt very comfortable with them and felt I gained a new friend. Very dependable and reliable.

Chicagoland Garage Builders is a top quality contractor, doing everything up and above expectations. From Bob's initial meeting where he listened to what we wanted and designed it perfectly, to planning the work, to completion of the punch list, everything went very smoothly. The entire company made the process easy to deal with, and we are now the envy of the neighborhood.

we called a couple of garage builders including Chicagoland garage builders for estimates on building our new garage. there were two estimates that were lower in price than Chicagoland garage builders but we felt they would give us a better quality product. we dealt with Bob Schuckler who came out to our house on a Saturday and gave us a real good crash course on garages. he was very detail oriented and seemed to know his stuff. we were so impressed by his company that we chose them to build our garage. after we got all required permits and surveys completed the garage was finished in under 3 weeks. we didn't have many problems but when we voiced any concerns that we did have Bob was on the phone and fixed the problem immediately. the carpenter crew of two were amazing to watch as they built the garage. they had the entire garage built in 2 1/2 days. Extremely friendly and courteous. very impressive. the electrician crew of two that came out for the last part of the project were also very professional and courteous. very easy to work with and fast.  We cant forget the cement crew. they were very good at what they did. they did have to come back to the house to touch up a few items but were quick and efficient  We just had our final two inspectors come out yesterday 6/30/2014 to tell us the garage passed its inspection and we can now use our garage. They were both very impressed with how the garage looked and how well the electrician had done his job. They told me I had a very well built garage. My husband and I agree whole heartedly. we would not hesitate to hire or recommend them to anyone. Thank you Chicagoland garage builders. we love our new garage.

Our sales rep Gary was very helpful. When I met with him about the garage, he mentioned they also do general concrete work. They got us prices quickly on two different options for the concrete layout for the driveway and a garage that would match the house nicely. I feel as a combo we got a great price.
They got all of the permits and handled the inspections. The work was scheduled to when it best worked for us and the had the concrete work done in 3 days, and once it cured built the garage in 2 days. Everything looked great and passed all inspections for the village. Nice doors on the garage and they mounted the ight fixture that i selected to match the house.
We will use them again probably doing another driveway next month.

The garage building business in Chicago is kind of a sleazy one, if my experience with a number of salespeople is accurate. Chicagoland Garage Builders seemed honest and they performed all work as promised. Salesperson Bob is flexible on meeting times and always prompt. We paid the base price for a simple, hip-roof garage and paid extra for gutters, a 6 foot apron and a 30' service walk. This basic package offers a choice of color of shingles, vinyl siding and basic overhead door. I'm confident they would do a quality job on a more custom garage with pricier options as well. After signing the contract, the process included one day to pour the concrete, 1.5 days to build the garage and .5 days to install the electrical service. There was a week of waiting time in between each step.
Chicagoland Garage Builders was sold to me as a concrete company that also builds garages. I have no complaints with the concrete work. The only portion of the job they sub out is the electrical, and they ask you to pay the electrician directly. Because the electrician is not providing the estimate, you may run into a situation where he charges more if you have a non-standard installation (40 feet of direct-bury cable, 2 electrical outlets, an interior light and an exterior light). Bob's estimate was honored by the electrician, so this wasn't a problem for us.
I highly recommend Chicagoland Garage Builders with two minor complaints:
1. Part of the reason we selected this company was their listing on Angie's List, their website and their business cards all indicate that they accept credit cards. When I inquired, I was told there is a 3% fee for using a credit card. This isn't a huge deal and we paid by check, but they should tone it down on the advertising acceptance of credit cards if that is not really the case.
2. After I signed the contract, Bob asked what other companies bid and asked to see the written estimates. This does not seem like an ethical business practice to me. They should be bidding the jobs for the best price they can offer and winning customers with good service (which they are), not attempting to undercut the competition with inside information.

I shopped both price and quality referrals before I choose Chicagoland Garage Builders. I was most impressed with the service provided by their salesman Gary as well as the responsive attitude shown by Dwaune and Angie (the owners) whenever there was a question or concern.
We purchased this property as a rental property and knew the garage needed to be replaced as well as the vast amount of concrete replacement that was required to get the house ready to rent. Anyone who deals in rental properties knows the quicker you can get things done and the home rented, the better. They were willing to come out and quote the job before we even closed on the property thus giving us a leg up on the process.
The work crews were always there when they where supposed to be and all very professional. Gary was on-site on a regular basis making sure things were going as planned. The Garage, walks, patio are now complete and we are very happy with the quality and appearance of our property.
