"They were great though 150 for easy 10 minutes of work was a rip off. Just had to weld the piece of gate latch back on. No parts needed. They were really nice friendly and considerate"

"The owner, Alex, is personable, and professional. He and his assistant came at the appointed time and day, and made the repairs needed. The cost was reasonable, and I'm very happy with my good as new, handsome railing, and the safety it affords us. Thank you Alex."

"When I was contacted by ABS welding to quote my fence repair I thought that they had made a mistake and thought that I was looking for repair of a metal fence. I told them that I was looking for repair of a wood fence and was told that they also repair wood fences. The quote was very much in line with the others that I had received, but ABS was available in a reasonably short time. Although I was a little nervous going with a welding service to fix my wood fence, I wound up very happy that I did! Mustafa and his helper were very professional, they showed up when they said they would, communicated exactly what they would be doing, did excellent work, and made sure the job site was clean before they left. I would definitely recommend them and will be contacting them for any repairs needed in the future."

Welding questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can use a saw to cut metal pipes. The best saw to use is a reciprocating saw, but even a fine-tooth hacksaw can get the job done. No matter which saw you use to cut metal pipes, wear protective gear, like work gloves, safety goggles, and ear plugs. Apply a firm, steady pressure to the tool, and always ensure the pipes are secured so they don't move while you make the cuts.

There are a few things you can ask welders before you hire them to get an idea of their experience and ability levels:

  • Are you licensed and certified?

  • How long have you been in the welding business?

  • Do you commonly do the type of welding I need?

  • Do you offer any kind of warranty for your work?

  • Do you charge by the hour or by the project?

  • How long do you expect my welding project to take?

  • What steps do you take to minimize errors in your work?

Cutting round ductwork requires precision and the right tools. A duct cutter, specifically designed for circular ducts, is ideal. First, mark the cutting line on the duct using a measuring tape and pencil. Then, position the duct cutter's blade on the marked line. Apply steady pressure, rotating the cutter around the duct. The sharp blade creates a clean, precise cut. Alternatively, a reciprocating saw with a metal-cutting blade can be used for larger round ducts. Ensure the duct is securely held in place while making the cut to prevent slips and maintain accuracy.

The best thing to cut metal pipe is a durable pipe cutter that is made for metal. You may want to measure the diameter of the pipes before purchasing a pipe cutter to ensure it will be able to cut your metal pipes. Opt for a heavy-duty option to cut through metal like steel or cast iron.

Yes, you can cut plexiglass by hand using a sharp knife or blade (utility knife, box cutter, glass cutter, etc.).
