That was just a microwave. It wasn't an expensive item. In fact, my husband just went in ,bought it and came out. No research on microwaves. Just pretty much basic. Just warms up the food. We don't cook with it. No research and no need for a sales person. No installation. Just went in and bought it and done deal. My husband purchased it. Knowing my husband he just went in, put it in the cart and bought it. Proximity. They are close to home. When you need something you don't wanna go far. They are across the street. It's close by. It's a hardware store so I really. I'm a female, so like most females I go there when I have too. It's really a male store.
Description of Work: They sold them a microwave.

When my plumber installed the toilet he noticed there was a leak from the tank which he fixed. He told me to not use bleach or those blue cleaners in the tank because they affect the seals. It seemed strange that there would already be a leak in a new toilet but the tank leak was fixed and the toilet installed so I didnt think anymore about it. Then I nolticed a very obvious flaw in the porcelain on the tank top so I called Menards and they agreed to swap out the tank top. When I removed the tank top to return it I discovered that there was a large ring of bleach where it appears that someone had hung one of those bleach cleaner packs. I then made the connection of why the tank had leaked when my plumber installed it and why he told me not to use bleach or those blue cleaners in the tank. I also noticed a blue water stain on the toilet between the tank and the seat. I was absolutely grossed out to think that I had been sold a used toilet as new. I called Menards and talked to the manager of the plumbing department and they offered to give me a new (?) toilet. However, they would not reimburse me for the cost of the plumber and the delivery charge. So if I accept the new toilet I again have to pay a plumber to take out the used toilet and install the new toilet and to pay another delivery charge. I went to the store to discuss the matter in person with the plumbing dept. manager and the manager of the store. I was treated as though I was lying and again the only solution offered was a new toilet and I would have to again pay for the plumber to install it. Plumbers are not inexpensive. I cannot even believe I have to deal with a used toilet being delivered as new. This is fraud and is just disgusting. I will never shop at Menards again. Also, the tank top I swapped out beause the original was flawed also has a flaw but it is minor and I can cover it with some white porcelain paint so I will not bother to haul it back to Menards again. However, it does speak to the quality of Eljer plumbing fixtures and I will not buy their products again. Im filing a complaint with the BBB and disputing the charge with my credit card company and I will contact whatever gov. agency handles this type of retail fraud. Do Not shop at Menards or buy Eljers products!
Description of Work: Purchased a ;Eljer Titan toilet and had it delivered.

My experience with them was average. The sales people were helpful. They answered the questions that I had, and helped me find the supplies I needed. There was lack of communication between the store people when I went to pick up the countertops. Their computer system may not have been updated enough for everybody there to have the same information. One store person contradicted another and it took them half an hour to discover that the countertops were actually there.
Description of Work: I bought the countertops from the hardware store.

This was an EXCELLENT experience in customer service and customer satisfaction. EXCELLENT. Other big box home improvement stores would've given me a major hassle in returning a sink several months after purchasing it, and would not have helped with the drain pieces. Menard's staff were so patient and kind and knowledgeable in helping me figure out how to remove the sink from the counter (over the telephone) and in helping try to get the drain pieces out of the sink. The self-destructing sink incident was truly bizarre but they never once questioned my honesty or integrity and were very helpful and professional. My husband and I do a lot of home improvement projects and service like this keeps us coming back to Menard's.
Description of Work: We bought a cast-iron sink from Menard's when it was on sale. We kept the sink in storage for a few months until we were ready to install it. We installed the sink in our new kitchen, and when we finished the kitchen and turned the water on three weeks later and filled one half of the sink to wash dishes, the cast iron enamel started popping off the sink. It looked like it was self-destructing, or "exploding". We ultimately learned that the problem was caused by the water weight in one half of the sink "torqueing"the sink, causing the enamel to fracture and pop off. This was a manufacturer's defect and nothing that Menard's was responsible for, although they did sell the product to me. I visited several online message boards for plumbers and home improvement gurus, and nobody believed me when I said my sink was self-destructing. I had to post a video of the incident before people finally believed me. I had to uninstall the sink and was worried about damaging the brand new counter top that the sink was attached to. I was also concerned about taking the drain pieces out of the bottom of the sink. I called Menard's, explained the problem and my concern about damaging the counter and removing the drain piece, and spoke to the store manager (Ray or Roy). He never once questioned me or doubted that I was being truthful (as people on the anonymous website message boards did) and he gave me some pointers on how to remove the sink without damaging the counter, and we were successful. I wasn't able to get the drain pieces out, though, as we used silicone to adhere the drain pieces to the bottom of the sink (per the sink instructions.) I brought the sink, with drain pieces still attached, into Menard's. I was able to return the sink without any problems. Ray/Roy directed me to the head of the plumbing department who tried, unsuccessfully, to remove the drain pieces. He gave me brand new drain pieces at no charge, since their faulty sink was the reason I needed the new pieces.
