PEX pipe does not need to be insulated if passing through interior walls or insulated external walls. However, despite its resistance to cracking, you should still insulate PEX pipe in unheated areas if you experience cold winters in your local area. Otherwise, repeated freezing and thawing may weaken the pipes over time and create the risk of bursting.

If you’re moving wires, installing new wires, or installing new fixtures in the space you’re insulating, then you will need to hire a licensed electrician to do that portion of the job for you.
