You bring the vision, we bring the tools and expertise to build it. Our philosophy is to never stop evolving, never stop learning. Our dedication is to quality, durability, and adaptability in the pursuit of YOUR vision; we commit to never compromising these principles in our approach to your project. Our goal is to reinvigorate an industry flooded by mediocrity, bringing craftsmanship and beauty into a bond with functionality. We renovate, restore, and newly build, just about anything you can think of. We are able to manage custom projects so well because we are a small company. Each of us at Chimera brings a unique set of skills to the table, and through collaboration and expertise we create a machine so efficient we remain competitive with outfits much larger than us, at a major cost benefit to our clients.

"Travis and his team did an excellent job remodeling our entire home under very tight deadlines; always going the extra mile for their client; true professionals expert at what they do. We strongly recommend them!"

"Ryan Seminario/Black Iron Construction installed a sliding door package in our living room. It was difficult to find someone willing to do a smaller project but Ryan was totally on board. This project required installing a header and re-constructing the wall to fit the doors, putting up drywall, sanding and texturing the wall and putting up new siding on the outside. He did a beautiful job! He paid attention to detail and got everything right. He is very good about communicating. Especially when he will be on site and what he will be working on. When he wasn't comfortable doing the wiring needed for our project, he was honest and upfront with me. We worked together and found an electrician to do it. He put up a plastic wall around the work area and cleaned the work area at the end of each day. I really appreciated that! I highly recommend Black Iron Construction for any project."

Scandia Carpentry and Millwork is dedicated to making sure that all the work done in your home will exceed your expectations. From general home maintenance to custom built cabinets and trim work you can expect that your project will be treated like it’s my own. With over 40 years of building experience you can expect your job will be completed on time and within budget! A little bit about who I am: I built tree forts as a kid...took woodworking classes in high school, worked as a carpenter in high school and started my apprenticeship with Local 131 Carpenters Union in Seattle in the early 1980's. I have always wanted to be a carpenter since my brother-in-law introduced me to carpentry when I was 10 years old. He loaned me his "Audels Carpentry and Builders Guide" Copywrite 1947...(its now considered "Vintage" on ebay) I poured over those books, learned everything I could from them... When I was twelve, I built a tree fort with the neighborhood kids... I made sure we had the floor beams correctly lag bolted to the trees, but when I insisted that the 2x4 studs had to be on 16" centers, my crew walked off the job and set up a picket line to protest my strict adherence to the way "Audels" told me it should be. In 1990, my dream of owning a business finally became a reality. I started Scandia Carpentry and Millwork and specialized in additions and remodel, cabinets and furniture.

"The job turned out very well a true professional I would recommend him to do any woodworking. The job was about $28k and worth every penny"

Pole Barn Builders questions, answered by experts

In some cases, a detached garage can be considered extra living space, but you will need to gain permission and comply with your local building code. Depending on where you live, you may need permits for a variety of installations, including electrical work, plumbing, and structural work. Many homeowners make the mistake of converting a garage into a living space without acquiring permits, which can result in hefty fines and even the removal of your hard work. Furthermore, a detached garage doesn’t add to the livable square footage of your home when it’s time to sell.

In most cases, it’s cheaper to build a garage, but it depends on how much of the labor you do yourself. If you can do most of it yourself, it tends to be cheaper than buying a prefab garage. But if you hire a contractor to build it, it’ll likely end up more expensive than a prefab garage.

A garage conversion typically takes between four and eight weeks, depending on the garage’s size and the project’s complexity. For a detached garage conversion, you may not experience much impact on daily life while it’s under construction, whereas an attached garage conversion can disrupt daily life quite significantly, given its proximity to the rest of your living space.

Provides additional space and enhances property appeal, potentially increasing resale value.

Wood, steel, fiberglass, and aluminum are among the top building materials for a garage. Wood is highly customizable, naturally insulative, and durable in mild climates but can be expensive. Steel is lightweight, low-maintenance, and cost-effective, but it’s susceptible to rust. Fiberglass is low-maintenance and doesn’t shrink or expand in changing temperatures, but it can become brittle and crack from prolonged high winds and sun exposure.

Unlike steel, aluminum isn’t susceptible to rust and is low-maintenance, but its ultra-light weight makes it less durable than some materials, and it’s susceptible to saltwater damage, making it a poor choice for coastal homes.
