Fireplace cleaning & repair. Four employees. We offer an early season $10.00 discount if fireplace is cleaned/inspected between March and July

"I hired this company to come fix my chimney. The guy showed up on time and evaluated the damage. I paid him $50 to do this and the evaluation lasted 2 minutes. The chimney guy said he would do the repair but he never came back. I called the office and talked to the secretary. I explained the situation but never received a phone call back. I would recommend this company for cleaning and not repairing."

This company sells wood-burning fireplaces, inserts and free-standing stoves. They also sell direct vent and electric fireplaces and inserts. They provide electric logs, vented logs and vent-free gas logs. They also provide glass doors, screens, wood and cast-stone mantels, hearths and bookcase systems. In addition, they offer brick, marble, granite and ceramic tile facings, retractable awnings, drop shades, gas grills, tools, blowers, remotes and accessories. They also offer chimney sweeping services; including diagnosis and safety inspections, relining, tuckpointing, cleaning, reconstruction and repair services. Provide fireglass and burners for firepits, building firepits and firepit tables.

"Nick arrived promptly. After checking, he said the fan was not running, and he speculated that not enough insulation surrounded the pipe leading up the chimney. He gave us some ideas for changing the fireplace, making it more efficient. Updating it. When we tried to pay him for coming, he said he had not done any work and wouldn't ask for money. We insisted paying him, however, for his trip charge. We will look at ideas at their showroom and, most likely, do some renovating when it's warmer."

Chimney Sweep questions, answered by experts

The easiest way to remove snow from a roof involves using a roof rake that allows you to clear snow from the ground. Roof rakes are lightweight and feature adjustable handles, making them user-friendly for most people. This method also helps prevent ice dams and excess snow buildup, reducing the risk of roof damage during winter months.

When should you remove snow from your roof? A good rule of thumb is once six inches of snow accumulates.

Yes, moss can be dangerous for your roof if left in place to grow without treatment. The moss soaks up and holds moisture. Having a constantly damp roof could lead to problems with rot for the parts of the roof that consist of wood. Additionally, a patch of thick moss may draw insects and birds, which could damage the roof. Thick moss could block the roof’s drainage system. Water then may back up after a rainstorm and cause further damage that could eventually lead to roof repair expenses or the cost of roof replacement.

Inspect for cracks, clean debris regularly, and replace damaged tiles promptly to maintain performance.

Roof raking helps clear snowfall from your roof and, in turn, you hope that this prevents ice dams. But can roof raking actually cause them? Generally, no, it cannot. But you should note that while, in some cases, you might successfully prevent ice dams from forming near the edge of your roof by keeping it cleared with a roof rake, they could still form higher up on the roof, where you are unable to reach. This may leave you wondering: Does roof raking prevent ice dams? While it is not a 100% guaranteed way to prevent them, it does help.

Other than it looking like a dirty car, there are some other signs you need to clean your roof. Moss growth, algae (often black streaks), grime buildup, buildup under shingles, and leaf buildup are all classic signs a cleaning is overdue. If you have neighbors, take a look around. If your roof appears different in any way, that’s another sign to call a pro to have it cleaned.
