"McKeever concrete were excellent to work with. They installed an RV parking pad for me and a drain set into a new concrete sidewalk. The estimate way extremely reasonable. The contractor was helpful in doing what I needed done and communicating how it would work best. The employees were very prompt, curteous and hard working. The job got done sooner than I expected and exactly how I wanted it. What more could you ask for?"

"Iâ  ve hired Cornbelt for multiple jobs. They installed an egress window, paved a sidewalk, a driveway, and have poured pads in my shed and for my cattle pens. These guys are the best, Iâ  ve spent tens of thousands with them and I will absolutely hire them again!"

"I live in New England and own a property in Iowa that belonged to my husband who passed away recently. We put the property up for sale and were informed the property was overgrown with weeds and trash and litter everywhere The lawn needed a lot of work. I called several lawn companies trying to get this cleaned up. None of them were interested or just didn’t return my calls. I contacted Home Advisor, and within two hours Brandon from Hemlock Tree Service called. I explained I’m 1200 miles away and desperate to get this place cleaned up and the property sold. Brandon went out the same day, and called me that very night with a quote. I agreed on the price and the very next day he completed the work. He was so professional and so helpful and understanding of my situation. I would not hesitate to recommend Hemlock Tree Service. Thank you Brandon for being so kind and for a job well done!!!"

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

Surface-level tree roots might only pose a small threat, such as being a tripping hazard or obstacle when you mow your lawn. But if mature tree roots start growing in the direction of your home’s foundation or plumbing system, it could be a real problem. Cutting small tree roots out before they grow too large can keep your home safe without removing the whole tree.

DIY landscaping is possible, but professional services offer expertise in selecting appropriate plants and designing functional spaces that complement the natural environment and adhere to local regulations.

It is possible to DIY complete hardscaping projects, but in most cases, hiring a professional is best to get the job done correctly. Hardscaping—including installing patios, decks, retaining walls, walkways, and water features—is challenging and time-consuming, so the money you spend on a professional is typically worth it. Not only will the quality be better, but you could avoid problems that come along with a lack of hardscaping experience, like drainage issues that can lead to costly foundation damage and leaks in your home.

There are two main times of year to apply mulch: mid to late spring and late fall. Spreading mulch in mid to late spring helps protect new seedlings as the soil warms up. It's best to wait until temperatures are steady, as mulching too early in the spring can slow down the soil's warming process and hinder plant growth. Fall mulching is also beneficial, as it insulates the soil and helps regulate its temperature when the first frosts arrive.

Many people have used old tires in gardens as raised beds, planters, tree rings, and DIY decor. However, these uses are not recommended due to the toxicity of many of the chemicals used to manufacture tires. These chemicals can leach into the soil and water as the tire breaks down, creating environmental pollution and health hazards for gardeners and their families.
