Stephan came out in less than 24 hours after calling at the end of our due diligence period on a potential house purchase. He found over $30k of needed repairs including re-enforcing the walls of a crawl space where too much dirt had been removed, a termite-eaten main support beam, and many cracked beams. Our home inspector had pointed out some of these, but couldn't tell us the severity. He saved us from making a perilous purchase.

The inspection itself seemed fine. The quoted cost estimate of the work seemed high when compared with other places.

Vest Engineering and Vest Construction did a great job. They delivered on time and on budget. Stephan and his crew did an excellent job for us in a major remodel project. They showed up on time and were courteous throughout the Design, Framing and clean up. After each day's work, the area was cleaned up and all materials disposed of after demolition. Having a dual role company provide the engineering and the framing was a double plus. We were able to make changes quickly and confirm the design without having to go through an onerous process. The framing crew even fixed problems from the original contractor not included in the quote because it was "the right thing to do". I would highly recommend this company for any structural engineering and framing work.

I'm impressed with the services and level of information that he provided. He was very professional. He even found several structural issues that the builder acknowledged, and he saved us a lot of money avoiding issues that could surface later. It included spans that were large for the load being carried by our gigantic kitchen island. A separate home inspector we hired noticed the deflection under the island (even before loaded with granite) but could only raise a red flag about it. The engineer saw it and also could tell us it was insufficient because he was an engineer. The builder fixed the issue because our engineer found it (and their engineer verified it was a problem). Another issue of insufficient ledge under our brick was a serious issue the builder fixed (and their engineer also corroborated the issue). Both home inspectors and engineers are important. If you can afford it, you should hire both.
