My warranty company actually hired One Call Home Preservation for a claim I put in. They did run a little late but called before to advise, which I thought was outstanding. My claim ultimately got denied but I called backed One Call back and their tech was able to come back later that day to do the repairs for me. They were courteous, professional and above all honest. I would definitely use them always even when covered by my warranty company I would request this company.

It took two trips to get the replacement pump properly installed and they charged me over $700. A sump pump costs around $100 retail. The reason given for the charge was "difficult conditions." Ok, so I paid it. (Then I hired a crew to clean up the "difficult conditions." I have also paid for a new graded driveway and new, large gutters across the carport to reduce the water incursions.) The pump and drain lines haven't worked properly since the beginning. The pump is not handling the water for several reasons. 1) They left the electric cord to the pump draped where the float arm could get tangled and hung up - meaning the pump stopped working. A professional installation would have tacked the cord up out of the way. I paid someone else to do that. 2) The drain line was not properly installed on the first trip; they had to come back out and put in a different type of line. They did NOT put in a check valve, so water gets pumped up to a certain height and drains back down again. 3) The pump is down in a 5 gal bucket. I don't know if it was in a bucket before or if One Call did it this way. Regardless, the float arm is hanging up on the side of the bucket so that it can't move freely, and this affects the operation of the pump. OTHER PROBLEMS: 1) I have called numerous times in the past few months and only twice have I been able to get through to a person. Messages have gone unanswered. The receptionist blamed phone problems over the past couple of weeks. Well, it's been longer than that. 2) I finally reached a live person on 6/25, and made an appointment for someone to come out at 8:00am on 6/26. The tech was a no-show. Repeated messages have gone unanswered. I called their emergency number, explained that I couldn't get through on the phone plus the nature of my problem. I am still waiting to hear back. Calling their main number goes directly to voice mail. I realize that this is an old house, and that the previous pump may not have been properly installed. HOWEVER, when I hire a professional, I expect them to inform me of existing obstacles and propose solutions - not just patch over what was there, especially when charging this much money! Consequences: There is moisture dripping off the ceiling and MILDEW everywhere! This was not the case when the company purchased the house six months ago. My tenants are threatening to move. I am going to have to hire a haz-mat team to remediate the mold, and I STILL don't have a working sump pump. I guarantee the mold remediation company I hire will NOT be One Call Home Preservation.
