Gentile's Landscaping

We hired Gentileâ s Landscaping to install a driveway from the street to our backyard and a connecting pad area to hold a 20ft shipping container for $6,600. It turned into an unfortunate situation. While the initial presentation was professional, he failed to do 80% of the things he promised. One of the biggest issues was that Michael Gentile made major changes without consulting us. Our initial main issues were he did not dig the depth he said he would and he omitted essential materials. When questioned onsite, he stated, â we got luckyâ and the dirt wasnâ t needed. Following completion, my husband and I walked the area where the shipping container would go. It was unstable. The millings were soft and spongy and it sunk in when we walked on it. He could not put a container on it or even a car. We alerted (by phone) Mr. Gentile of the issues and questioned him about omitting the material. After letting him know I wasnâ t happy with his work. He became defensive that I would even question him. After two phone conversations, we came to an agreement that he would return and bring additional asphalt millings to fix the low spots in the driveway that held water and mud as well as dig up the back pad area and add the stone as he had said before. (But only if he drove over it to determine stability. Which he did about a week later and his truck couldnâ t get far without sinking.) He returned. Instead of bringing additional material as we agreed upon, he dug up the millings from the back pad area, where we already had stability issues, and spread them down the driveway. This was a poor attempt to cover the problems rather than fixing them as discussed. Ultimately, I decided to sue the company for the omitted material. During the trial, I presented evidence, including recordings where Mr. Gentile admitted to not providing the material we had paid for. I also had surveillance footage on standby if the courts asked. Shockingly, based on his own evidence, he only spent about $1,150 on the entire project. If I hadnâ t forced him to return and add gravel to the back pad area, he would have only spent $850 out of the $6,600 we paid him. Clearly there was enough to purchase the material we discussed. I shouldnâ t been surprised after already learning of his dishonesty when trying to resolve the issues. In court, Mr. Gentile attacked my character and lied extensively, even going as far as to accuse me of planning the whole thing just to sue him. He claimed I REFUSED to sign off on the Job Complete to Satisfactionsâ receipt because I was so happy with the job. My response to the judge, â Your Honor, I have a file cabinet in my house. I would never refuse to sign anythingâ . I realized I hadnâ t signed it when he answered the courts when I filed suit. He bragged to the judge about having 5 star reviews and couldnâ t answer directly when the judge asked what it would take to make it right. His response, â Put the shipping container in another spot.â Thankfully, the evidence was clear, and I won the judgment. Afterward, I sent a demand letter for payment (certified mail) which he refused. He texted me, saying he would file for bankruptcy and appeal the judgment, wishing me â good luckâ . I followed up with legal actions, including a writ of fifa and interrogatories. He paid the judgment a few weeks later. Right on time, because I had just filed the paperwork to garnish the bank of his business and had just received vehicle information from the state to levy his assets if I needed to. In hindsight, I wish I had sued for the full amount, especially since our driveway is now overgrown with weeds and looks terrible. Mike Gentile is extremely knowledgeable about landscaping and has such a passion for his work. With his help, I've improved the landscape of my home. The work was completed on time and there were no unexpected costs. He is patient and personable made sure I knew how to maintain the fantastic work he and his team did and offered to let me reach out at any time with questions. Imagine, if you will, a hill - nay, a cliff - covered in construction debris and weeds, making half of your property almost entirely inaccessible to you without substantial risk of injury. This is what I was left with after closing on my newly built home. Enter Gentile landscaping. When I asked Michael to come out for an estimate, I had zero hope of finding any reasonable solution within budget. Even when Michael proposed his solution, I wasnâ t convinced I would be satisfied with the end result. Fast forward to now, and after a week of perilous work with his extremely knowledgeable and professional crew, and dealing with my indecisiveness, the job is done. And I couldnâ t be more satisfied. Michael has excellent communication, and works with you every step of the way to ensure your vision is molded into your landscape. His attention to detail is astonishing. After my experience, I have every confidence that Gentile landscaping can handle any project, large or small, and stay within a reasonable budget. Thereâ s no point in looking for another landscaper, as the level of service and quality of work Michael provides is clearly unmatched. Give him a call, and you will be satisfied with the results.

Mike and his crew installed zoysia sod in our backyard. Ever step of the process was excellent. Great communication. Great product. Great install job! Mike even did a treatment for grub prevention and watered the lawn when they were done with the install. I highly recommend using Gentileâ s Landscaping!

Excellent grading and installing of sods.. and Michael was working alongside his team for the entire length of the project and not just outsourced.. Did you ever have a job that you put off doing for years because you know that not only will it be a huge undertaking but also be insanely expensive? Well we had that job and after years of thinking about doing it, this was the year we finally decided to do it. You might think that landscapers are a dime a dozen. However there are few that go out of there way to make a customer happy. Mike at Gentile's Landscaping is that guy! He was informative, punctual, friendly, reasonably priced, kept us informed every step of the way and he really knew his stuff. We live on a hill that has sink holes and has eroded over time. Mike and his crew regraded our lawn. We had a rain storm right after they completed the project and had a deluge of rain in a short period of time. I was horrified that the money we spend would wash away...it didn't. However we found another issue that was unknown to either of us that...there was an issue with our neighbor's yard draining into ours which has and would continue to cause us issues. Mike came over and came up with a wonderful idea that not only would address the problem but was also visually appealing. Two days later he was back and the job was done (he wanted to have it done before the next rainstorm). He made sure we were completely happy with both projects and believe me we were. I'll be honest, I was never expecting to have my own landscaper but when you find someone as wonderful as Gentile's Landscaping well you end up with your very own landscaper. If you have a lawn project, big or small give them a call...you won't be disappointed.

I cannot tell you how thankful I was for the owner of Gentiles Landscaping. I had hired a landscaping company to remove shrubs and roots to replant grass. To make a long story short they could not remove the stumps (as they were trying to do it by hand)! Therefore they could not put the grass or new shrubbery in because of the stumps. When I called the owner and told him my predicament he told me to hang tight and he came right over and had my stumps removed within an hour! There were 11 stumps total and when he was through the men were able to continue their work!! He was like an angel to me and I so appreciated him being so thoughtful and thorough!! I would recommend him highly!

They were excellent- excellent work (I had tree stumps removed)
