I used them because that's who the manufacturer recommended. It wasn't a big repair. It felt like they were a little expensive. They were prompt and they did the repair promptly. The guy was very pleasant. They were only here about 10 , minutes. I know they have a minimum, but still... The part wasn't that expensive. It would be nice if they broke down their minimum into a half hour. It wasn't a big fix, they did not have to come very far and it only took them five minutes. I just felt like they could have charged less. Their quality was good. I think they were here on time. If the price was right I would use them again.
I had normally called Dr. Fixit in the past with large appliance problems, but this time, I decided to call someone else, Appliance Doctor. The doctor arrived, looked at the job and said, "Forget it. Call someone else!"
So, I called Dr. Fixit. Richard came out and said that my best bet would be to replace the Magnetron, diode and capacitor. Since the door springs were broken, I told him to replace them also. He quoted a guaranteed price for parts and labor.
Parts arrived and Richard showed up to put them in. The unit was a sheet-metal and screw nightmare. God bless Kitchenaid. Their engineers are idiots. ( I am an engineer by education - class of 1964 ). Richard had to leave to get more information.
Richard returned the day before Thanksgiving and started to work. He was here for about eight hours. When he left, the parts were installed, but he had broken the microwave door trying to reassemble it. He accepted responsibility and said that he would return with the repair part at his expense. The microwave was operable while exercising extreme caution.
Several days later, Richard returned with the required part and installed it. The microwave was back to normal.
Dr. Fixit honored their original quote for labor in spite of the fact that it took probably 12 manhours more than it should have. Richard was a saint. I have a Kitchenaid oven, warming drawer, microwave, dishwasher and refrigerator. For the most part, Kitchenaid is junk and I will never purchase the brand again.
I would definitely recommend Dr. Fix-It, we couldn't be more pleased .
