Super unprofessional! As a pool builder and industry professional, we used this company for years to do leak detection. WE called this week to try to get emergency service (even offered to pay more) for a major leak on a pool, we were NOT asking them to fix just to locate leak. I had the number of a technician from this company who did this service for my personal pool, he gave me his number and said if I ever needed anything to call him. My receptionist called me and told me they could not get there for 10 days, so I called this technician and I asked if he could pull some strings to get to this pool a little faster as it was losing a lot of water (not a small leak) and with cold temps it was pretty important. There are so many of these companies out there, but we have used this one for a few years and typically were happy with their response time, instead of calling me to ask what my conversation was with the tech (who I asked to try to move us up the schedule, I did NOT ask him to come on his personal time or circumvent the office, I offered to pay an emergency fee to the COMPANY not him directly) the manager wrote a nasty e mail stating we will never work for you again. OK that is fine, plenty of other reputable companies, but apparently MICHELLE at American Leak Detect in Atlanta likes to shoot off nasty e mails without any facts, I would guess that if they provide customer service this way that perhaps their quality of service in the field may match and perhaps best we find another company . My next call was to Atlanta Leak Pros, and WOW what a difference, they can get to us quickly and they are professional. I would say ditch American Leak Detection and try Atlanta Leak Pros for your leak detection needs, this way you don't inconvenience Michelle by interrupting her day.

It was an easy process from making the initial contact to completion of the work....couldn't be happier. The plumbing company that came the next day was able to complete the repair by replacing about four feet of copper tubing with flexible, heavy duty PEX piping that fully corrected the problem. We were very pleased with the work done at our house!!

The technician says that the leak was between the toilet and the vanity, but in the middle of the floor, which is about 4-5 feet from the wall.  Also, the technician DID NOT mark the place where he says the leak was, he just wrote it in the report.  When the plumber (Majestic Plumbing) came to repair the leak, they found out that it was actually in the wall, which is where the tenant said it was, just using her ears.  The distance was enough that we would have incurred an additional charge, but Majestic waived the additional charge.  We could have saved $380 if we had just used the tenant's ears instead of ALD.  All that professional equipment seemed to be a complete waste of time and money.  Would never recommend American Leak Detector.

They were a very good company to work with. They were professional. He found the leak and he put up a little flag. The plumber came out and dug where the flag was straight to the leak then he had to go down about 12 inches to get to it. I would recommend them to anybody else. I've never heard of them until a plumbing company told us about them.

Customer had a water leak that the county had noticed so it was our job to restore that service but with the 800 plus feet of water lines we didn't know where to begin without an obvious pool of water to be seen so the man from American Leak came at the scheduled time and in a few hours he was able to find our break in the line within 40 inches. They saved us time and money and remember it takes money to make money.

I recently moved into a new house and called American Leak Detection because I was having very high water bills for a household of 1. On the first call I had to leave a message on the answering machine. No one called me back for a couple of days so I called again. The man apologized saying they're not usually like that. I told him that during my home inspection the inspector had all the water to the house shut off but that the meter was still turning slightly and that I should have it checked. I figured I would give it a few months to see how my water bills were. They have been increasing slightly for several months in a row now. I don't have a sprinkler system as do some of my neighbors, whose water bills are less than mine. ALD said they would send someone out to read the meter on two separate days. After finally doing so, they emailed me that the meter was consistently turning very slightly indicating water usage of approx. 36 gallons per day possibly from running toilet or dripping faucet. I have neither as I had my plumber check. I called back to say, again, what the home inspector said and my contact said and quot;oh, we didn't know that.and quot; I mentioned this on my initial call. I also said I felt there was maybe a small leak underground and isn't that what their company does....find leaks? He was going to see about technician coming out again on Saturday when I was home but I haven't seen or heard from anyone. I emailed my contact again and asked him to let me know one way or the other if they are going to help me. It's been over 24 hrs and still no response. I feel they are very flighty and unprofessional. It definitely doesn't do much for my confidence in their ability to actually find a leak. Now I will call the other leak detection company like my plumber suggested in the first place. Terrible way to run a business.

After contacting the company, a service attendant promptly scheduled a service for a technician to come by. She explained me that the charges would be $365.00 for the trip including the first 2 hours and additional charges would apply after that. I thought that the initial charges was a little high but, she assure me that they would use sophisticated equipment in the hands of very well trained technicians and that they could detect leaks effectively. That was in fact the case. When the technician arrived, he conducted a very effective trouble shooting without using the sophisticated equipment but, showing knowledge and experience since, in less than half an hour he pointed out to the source of the problem. I think so far, that the problem has been completely identified and solved by repairing the ice maker.

After months of trying to figure out where our water was going (thousands of extra gallons per month of fresh water), we finally called the folks at Atlanta Leak Detection. They arrived, searched, located the leak and helped us understand what to do next. Very well done!

Unfortunately the technician was unable to find the leak so he just drew a large circle covering half of my driveway and said that it was somewhere within that circle. It made it very difficult for the plumber and therefore the plumber had to dig up a very large hole in my driveway. The leak ended up being slightly beyond the edge of the large circle drawn by the technician. It was really just a waste of money.
Response from American Leak Detection - Atlanta
"We appreciate and act on all customer input and complaints, and appreciate the opportunity to respond. The member contacted us on August 6, 2010 about a possible leak under her driveway and we were able to send a technician to her home the same day. The plumbing company who referred the member to us is a very reputable firm which we do a lot of work for and is a prime referral source. They always contact us with issues or concerns, but on this job they did not reach out with any negative comment or complaint. Our technician indeed marked a spot in the driveway using black chalk, as the meter box was located in the concrete driveway of the townhome. According to the technician's extensive notes from the job, the pipe (where the water line leak was later located) was made of blue poly and the PRV was faulty. These circumstances combined may have contributed to less than ideal conditions for "exact leak pinpointing." The area marked was within five feet from the actual leak location, which did narrow the search for the second plumber that was later called by the member to repair the job. We billed the member $375, which the menber paid (with no objection or complaint) and not the $1,200 listed as an approximate cost in the complaint."

It's a treat to recommend an honest and ethical company such as this one. I contacted American Leak Detection at the recommendation of a plumber after he determined that there was a water leak in my home's slab. Paul arrived on schedule, discussed the problem and my previous plumbing troubles (house was built with gray polybutylene pipe that leaks and has needed multiple repairs). He recommended that I skip his services and not fix this one problem, but that instead I should put the money toward re-piping the entire house. He made a lot of sense, and I ended up doing exactly that. He was proven right when, as the plumbers started to replace the old pipes, one of them burst when it was simply touched! I can't tell you how much I appreciate their honesty and integrity. Paul could have simply detected the leak, collected his fee, and left me with a growing problem. Instead he applied his experience and offered me a better solution that resulted in less income for him and the company. Everyone that I spoke with at this company was friendly, courteous, and helpful. I would definitely recommend them to friends!

I probably could not have found the leak without them, but I'm not sure they would have found the leak themselves if my irrigation professional had not been there at the same time. I can't say that I was overly impressed, but they were OK.
